It was such a treat gathering celebrating and looking forwards to our future as a profession! There’s a special energy when we get together 😊 ——————- P.S. We are currently welcoming new members into the community. If you are wanting to gather and connect with OTs who are seeking more aligning and meaningful ways of showing up in their work then we’d love to welcome you. https://lnkd.in/giuwHRAS
Thanks Bradley Williams of The Becoming Collective for hosting yesterday's OT week extravaganza, an online celebration of what occupational therapy is and can be. Thanks to Nicole de la Perrelle and Bronwyn Paynter for sharing enthusiastically on the panel, and Angela Berndt for trying valiantly to contribute despite tech challenges! Here are some of my takeaways: Occupational Therapists are everyday heroes: our means and ends - occupation - is so ordinary (hence accessible) and yet so powerful - lives can be transformed through meaningful doing. We need to remember who are we serving and how are we serving them, and hold onto our whole practice process. We’re not limited in the conditions or body parts we’re interested in or the modalities we can use (cause "occupation" is huge!). There is potential to broaden our impact if we hold onto the vision to see OT in places we haven’t seen before - supporting wellbeing outside of traditional health and disability services.
