  • The weather, grounds and atmosphere were simply perfect as Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, who serves as Patron of See Differently, hosted the highly anticipated 140 Not Out backyard cricket event at Government House earlier this week. Her Excellency welcomed guests including the Honourable Nat Cook MP, as she paused to recognise our significant milestone: 140 years of steadfast commitment to supporting South Australians who are blind or living with low vision. At See Differently we are one of the oldest charities in South Australia and have expanded our reach to veterans and autistic children through our assistance dog program, while continually investing in cutting-edge assistive technology, employment programs, and client services. Our Executive Director – Damian Papps remarked, “This event is about more than a game of backyard cricket. It’s a celebration of 140 years of life-changing work and the partnerships that make it all possible.” Guests enjoyed an exhibition from Blind Cricket South Australia as well as the chance to try blind and backyard cricket, all accompanied by party pies and glass of Pimm's on the Government House lawns. 140 Not Out would not have come to life without Corporate Partners such as Festival Hire, Vili’s Family Bakery, Topline Promotions, HWL Ebsworth Lawyers, Overlay and Inside Out Retail Property, their generous support made this event possible. Thank you again also to the staff at Government House for hosting us. As the team at See Differently look to the future, we are more committed than ever to providing services that make a real difference including health services, guide and assistance dogs and the Braille Challenge for children. Get in touch if you are interested in becoming a partner of See Differently's in 2025.
