Our weekly recap of what’s been happening in the Australian car market 👀 The week was highlighted by the announcement of the BYD Shark 6 ute pricing starting from $57,900 before on-roads. The announcement had so much interest it crashed their site and according to BYD they took 2,000 orders in the first 24 hours! Two very important models for Mazda, the CX-70 and CX-80, are now arriving at dealerships as it continues to refresh its SUV line-up. The Lotus Emira has finished with it’s First Editions and is now readying the series production Turbo models (the V6 is coming next year) and Porsche kept the 911 news coming with the debut of the manual-only Carrera T. MG has tweaked pricing across most of its range. The MG ZS Excite is now $20,990 drive away making it the cheapest SUV in the market and the newly released MG3 is now starting from $22,990. Zeekr launched its new electric SUV, the X, at SXSW Sydney pricing it from $67,220 drive away. Then on Wednesday, Leapmotor announced pricing for its C10 electric SUV at $47,500 drive away. This is the tip of the iceberg as an influx of new Chinese EVs is set to transform the auto landscape. On the more traditional side an updated model of everybody’s favourite dream car, the 911 GT3, was announced and Porsche Australia went one step further by announcing local pricing almost straight away at $504,264 drive away. We continue to dream… 😆 Finally, Mercedes-Benz has continued to lower pricing on its entry-level models while simultaneously removing previously standard equipment. Headlining was the all-new MG Cyberster now available from $129,023 drive away. This is the first ever electric roadster with performance you don’t normally associate with an MG - 0 to 100 in just 3.2 seconds. The other major announcement was Cadillac opening orders for its electric Lyriq SUV.
