On Saturday 26th October, we will be holding a Rescue Hen Adoption Day in Lismore, NSW. Follow the instructions below to help save as many lives as possible: 💬 Connect with our Adoptions Team via messenger or send an email to info@tilthecowscomehome.org 📝 Complete a quick application form (this is to ensure the hens go to great homes) 🚗 Collect your rescue hens! 🐓 (this will be on the set day) If you can't adopt, you can still help these hens by tagging your friends/family in this post or sharing it 🐔🏡💙 *Please note, hens are to be adopted as companions/pets. Forever homes only! As rescue hens are often kept in inadequate conditions, some may have health issues. These cases are a small percentage but please keep this in mind.

  • This trio narrowly escaped slaughter, all thanks to the kindness of one person and her family. Now they need us, will you help them? Their rescuers do not have the space this trio need, so we need to find them a forever home– please keep reading to find out how you can help Coco, Custard & Labrador. Cattle raised for beef will live a short life before being sent to the slaughterhouse at approximately 18-24 months old– just a small fraction of their natural lifespan of 15-20 years. A slaughterhouse is a place where no animal deserves to go, but the stress these animals endure starts well before they arrive at the processing facility. From the moment they are mustered, yarded and loaded on the transporter they are scared and stressed. Often deprived of water and food, they will face a long journey travelling hundreds or even thousands of kilometres before arriving at their final fate- the slaughterhouse- a place that so clearly smells of death and is riddled with fear. Coco, Custard and Labrador, born a beef breed faced this unimaginable fate. They were among the lucky few who narrowly escaped. For over a year, a kind-hearted member of the public, along with her toddlers, would walk by the property where these three steers lived. Over time, a bond grew as they stopped to say hello, offering pats and hand-fed treats. It was the only human kindness Coco, Custard, and Labrador knew. Slowly, the steers began to trust this family, coming to the fence each day for their visits. But their peaceful routine came to an abrupt end when the property was sold, and the herd was due to be sent to slaughter. Desperate to save them, this compassionate person stalled, begged, and pleaded with the developer, asking for just a little more time to find a way to save their lives. She couldn’t bear the thought of these three gentle souls meeting such a tragic end. Finally, after many back-and-forth conversations, and out of sheer love and determination, this person used her own money to purchase Coco, Custard, and Labrador, ensuring they would not be sent to slaughter. She reached out to us for help to get them to safety, knowing they deserved a second chance at life. Coco, Custard, and Labrador make up a gentle trio, shaped by a life with little human interaction. Though they aren’t overly friendly, they’re approachable and will happily accept hand-fed treats and a gentle pat or two. They’ve lived peacefully alongside horses and after being part of a larger herd of cows, they would be content in joining a new herd or staying together as a trio. Could your home be the forever place where Coco, Custard, and Labrador find peace and safety? • Meet Clyde, Delilah, and Honey – three gentle giants, hand-raised with love, ready to find their forever home 🧡 These three were rescued as vulnerable calves and nurtured with love, they’ve grown into gentle giants with hearts as big as the pastures they dream of exploring. Their current family, facing the harsh realities of a prolonged drought and dwindling feed supplies, have made the incredibly difficult decision to find a new home for these beloved companions. This heart-wrenching choice, made out of love and necessity, seeks to offer Clyde, Delilah, and Honey the future they deserve – a future filled with lush green pastures, endless affection, and a new family who will cherish them as they have been cherished. Clyde is the epitome of laid-back charm. His big brown eyes, always twinkling with a hint of mischief, reflect a playful spirit that’s never in a rush. He’s a gentle giant who treasures the simple joys of life – from a scratch under the chin to a leisurely stroll in the garden. By Clyde’s side, you’ll find Delilah, his devoted sister who shares a bond like no other built on a lifetime of shared moments. With her striking glassy eyes and the delicate crescent moon on her forehead, Delilah’s sing-song greetings are like music to the soul. She’s a gentle soul who craves affection, eagerly leaning in for a tender pat, her trust a precious gift to those who earn it. And then there’s Honey, the heart that completes this loving trio. Honey is as sweet as her name suggests – gentle, curious, and ever-affectionate. She’s the quiet observer, always watching over her companions with a loving eye. Honey’s favourite moments are those spent in peaceful slumber, stretched out in a sunlit paddock, her presence a source of calm and serenity to all who meet her. The perfect home for Clyde, Delilah, and Honey is one where they will be more than just animals – they will be family. They need a home where they can roam freely, graze at their leisure, and be loved unconditionally. • Rosie finally found her happily ever after 🥹 In August we put out an urgent appeal to help find a home for Rosie. She was an ex-racehorse and broodmare who needed a forever home and fast. Rosie did not have an easy start to life. Racehorses are bred for a specific purpose – to win and be profitable. If they don’t meet this purpose, they face an uncertain fate. Over 10,000 racehorses vanish from the industry each year ending up in knackeries or slaughterhouses deemed as “waste”. With their good racing genetics in high demand, mares face being part of breeding programs to produce future champions for the horse-racing industry. Rosie sadly endured the suffering that often comes with being a racehorse and after that, she was forced into life as a broodmare being isolated while she was used for breeding. She spent years bringing new life into the world, only to be dumped and left on her own to survive when she was no longer deemed useful for breeding. Thankfully, Rosie was rescued by a kind soul who saw that her life mattered. However, she could not stay with them long-term and needed to find her forever home. That is –with your help– where we came in. Our Adoption team searched high and low for the perfect family for Rosie, one who would give her the life she deserved 🫶 Well, we are very happy to report Rosie has now been adopted!! 🎉 She, alongside two rescue calves Randy and Wicket, have found their perfect family. 🐮 "Rosie is such a good girl! My pony is beside herself with excitement to have her here, and the calves fit right in like they’ve always been here. It was lovely seeing them feel at home right away." –their incredible adopters ❤️ This is definitely something to celebrate this Saturday, happy weekend animal lovers 🫶

  • Lainie update 🫶 For those who missed it, we rescued Lainie as a newborn. She was born a twin, however, sadly her mother didn't have enough milk to feed them both. One of them was not going to make it. Ordinarily, this would have been Lainie. Born with contracted tendons, on a regular farm without the means or funds to support her recovery, Lainie would have most likely been "disposed of". A life like hers is often seen as too costly when compared to the benefits she could bring to a farm. Because of the kindness of this community, now Lainie never has to know the inside of a slaughterhouse. Lainie requires extensive round-the-clock care in one of our foster homes. But nothing is stopping this little lamb. With support, your generosity and her endless determination Lainie is making baby steps in progressand taking her first steps! We are so proud of you Lainie 🧡
