The Institute of Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers New Zealand Inc. (IRHACE) recently interviewed our Senior Project Manager Charlotte Arnold on the technical components of A.P. Moller - Maersk’s new Hamilton coolstore. The cold chain facility, which is in the Ruakura Superhub and won the CBRE Industrial Property Award at this year’s Property Council New Zealand awards, is a “masterclass in sustainable HVAC&R design”. “The Hamilton coolstore represents a global achievement for Maersk. The site has various environmental features and sustainable operations, from the building being partly heated from the byproduct of the refrigerant to a design change which reduced 88,000m of piping to just under 7,900m, slashing the carbon footprint of the build,” Charlotte said. Coles Group has opened its second automated distribution centre (ADC) – a significant milestone for our valued client, years in the making!  Coles CEO Leah Weckert and Chairman James Graham opened the 187,000 sqm (2,012,851 sqft) overall site in Kemps Creek, NSW yesterday, with some of our TMXers in attendance. The new site will process more than four million cartons per week – the equivalent to 32 million products sold in stores.    With a building size of 66,000 sqm (710,418 sqft), this is one of the largest ADCs in the world and follows last year’s opening of its first ADC in Redbank, Queensland. TMX is privileged to have supported and worked with Coles on both projects since their inception, including technical design, property procurement, and project management of the delivery of the facility, including integration of the global-leading WITRON Group automation technology. Thrilled to see NZ Post’s Auckland Processing Centre getting a closeup in Parcel and Postal Technology International ! The 30,000 sqm APC is New Zealand’s largest ever processing facility and will process 30,000 parcels per hour at peak capacity. “We saw the need to evolve as e-commerce continues to grow in New Zealand and internationally. The APC is a key part of our aim to increase our parcel processing capacity to 190 million items per year by 2033,” NZ Post CEO David Walsh said. “TMX has had the privilege of working with NZ Post on its transformation since the inception of this complex project, overcoming multiple challenges, particularly during the pandemic. It is a testament to the program team who were able to manage the delivery of the two systems under difficult circumstances,” TMX’s Adam McDonald said.
