🌳 CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING 🌳 Today we welcomed a team of corporate volunteers to our Hazelmere site to assist with weeding. They began the day by weeding under the benches in our community nursery. Its really important that we keep this area weed free to reduce the spread of seeds among our precious young native plants. After morning tea they moved down to the river bank to weed our Bilya restoration site. This area adjacent to the Helena River was planted by community volunteers in 2023, and the native plants are really starting to thrive now. They will be greatly assisted by the removal of invasive weeds around the planting area, allowing the native plants to flourish and out compete their weedy neighbours. Volunteering with us is a great way to build team spirit while working outdoors in nature in a peaceful environment on the edge of the Swan Valley. About us
Trillion Trees (formerly Men of the Trees) is a Western Australia not-for-profit, Incorporated Association, founded in 1979. Since that time, it has planted over15 million seedlings to prevent the spread of deserts, erosion and salinity. We hold the Guinness World Record for 100,450 trees planted simultaneously. A world audit of trees (2015), led by Crowther of Yale university and including universities around the world, shows there are three trillion trees left in the world. This is half of what there used to be at the start of civilisation, and numbers are still declining. Trees are essential to life as we know it. Here is our challenge to you to bring about the change the world needs: If each of the 7.5+ billion people on this planet plant 150 trees we will have 1 trillion more trees in the world OUR GUIDING STATEMENTS: ENVIRONMENT To restore degraded land, support biodiversity, and encourage the growth of healthy tree canopies in both urban and rural setting. SPIRIT We are directed by a vision of the world in which all people recognise the value of trees and forests COMMUNITY Our mission is to bring people together to grow, plant, establish and maintain trees to achieve a healthy, and biodiverse environment CORPORATE Individuals, communities, business and government are provided opportunities to financially support ecological restoration across WA to improve the health and sustainability of the land and grow biodiversity Telephone: (08) 9250 1888 Email: contact@trilliontrees.org.au

📣MP VISIT Yesterday we welcomed Hon Tanya Plibersek MP (Minister for the Environment and Water) and Tania Lawrence MP (Member for Hasluck) for a tour of our Hazelmere base. They enjoyed the opportunity to meet and thank a number of our wonderful volunteers who help us to grow over 200,000 native trees and plants each year in our community nursery. Each year over 2,000 volunteers support our work to plant trees and grow communities in WA. With the help of our valued volunteers, we are restoring landscapes and educating the next generation of environmental advocates. The Minister and our local Member concluded their visit by planting a wonderful WA native tree, Corymbia calophylla (Marri). “It was our pleasure to welcome Minister Plibersek and our local member, Tania Lawrence MP, to tour our facilities and shine a light on our work. Introducing them to our volunteer team, who are the heartbeat of our organisation, is a great way to show our dedicated volunteers how much their contribution is appreciated. At Trillion Trees Australia, we’re not just planting trees; we’re growing communities, restoring landscapes, and educating generations.” Mark Hullett, Trillion Trees Australia CEO #treesnow #plantmoretrees #lovenature #perthwa #treestagram

Thank you to the CPS (Conveyor Products and Solutions) team for helping us to plant almost 2000 native trees and plants at our Team Planting Day. CPS are a generous and long term supporter of our work and we are very grateful for their continued support. Check out their video below for a snapshot of the team building experience that everyone enjoys at our Team Planting Days. 🌳
At CPS we’re proud to make sustainable choices every day. Since 2021 CPS has supported the Trillion Trees Australia organisation allowing them to plant just shy of 280,000 trees during the sponsorship period, as well as contributing to the running of their community nursery which is 100% volunteer run and tackles important societal issues such as social isolation, inclusivity, diversity and suicide prevention. In July our team visited the Mandoon Moitch Restoration Project, located on the banks of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) for a tree planting day. We were treated to an unseasonably beautiful crisp sunny day where we managed to plant 1960 trees as part of the ongoing work to rehabilitate this remnant wetland. #environmentalsustainability #futureofmining

💜💚CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING 💜💚 A team of volunteers from TPG joined us in our community nursery recently to help plant out a new native garden bed. ☀️The team worked with great enthusiasm in the winter sunshine to get a wide range of native plants in the ground. 🐝We are currently planting in a range of locations around our Hazelmere base to improve the biodiversity of the site and increase the range of habitat available for local wildlife. These plants will also enhance our efforts to future-proof our organisation by providing access to more of our own cutting material for plant propagation. 📩If you'd like to find out more about volunteering opportunities please email contact@trilliontrees.org.au

🌲 💚 100 volunteers = 3000 trees planted! 🌲 💚 We are grateful to everyone who turned out on a wet Saturday morning to plant trees with us at Reg Bond Reserve in the City of Swan. This area forms part of the Memorial Groves we have been planting for almost 30 years in partnership with Bowra and O'Dea. A living legacy for loved ones lost. We planted with purpose in memory of our former president, the late Thom Scott, who passed away in December. A towering inspiration to us all in life and death to just plant one more tree. You can visit this memorial grove in Viveash and support our work to plant more trees by making a donation today. 📷 View the event photo gallery here: https://lnkd.in/ggR5DUnJ

🌳 Team Planting Day - Boart Longyear 🌳 Huge thanks to the enthusiastic team of 40 colleagues, family and friends from Boart Longyear who joined us for a Team Planting Day at Guildford Meadow. In just a few hours, we planted over 2000 native trees and plants at this important restoration site on the edge of the Swan Valley. Located on the banks of the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) this project contains a significant remnant wetland, once surrounded by riparian vegetation and a Eucalyptus rudis (Moitch / Flooded Gum) Woodland. The area was largely cleared for grazing in the 1930s with only the wetland and a few large trees remaining. Now a part of Whiteman Park, it’s an area of environmental importance that provides viable habitat for threatened and at-risk native animal species, and is home to significant, registered cultural sites of the local Noongar people. Since 2016 we've planted over 70,000 native trees and plants here to create a huge woodland for future generations to enjoy. 🌳 You can help us to plant more trees here by making a donation today: https://lnkd.in/gG7Hd8c4

🌳 Almost 100 people joined us for our first Community Planting Day of 2024 at Mandoon Moitch (Guildford Meadow). Despite the cool temperatures, volunteers of all ages and abilities came together to plant over 6000 native trees and plants on Saturday. Trillion Trees’ Ecological Restoration Manager, Julian Beasley, says this restoration work is essential to rebuilding lost natural habitats and restoring biodiversity. “As we emerge from the longest dry-spell in WA’s history, it’s up to us to help replenish the landscape we live in, help rebuild habitats for endangered wildlife, and protect the precious balance of drinking water supplies. Attending one of our Winter Community Planting Days is a wonderful way to spend a day outdoors, and to play your part in taking real action to combat the impact of climate change,” said Julian.
