About us
Founded a century ago by Dr Lorna Hodgkinson – A Woman Ahead of her Time, Unisson Disability began as a pioneering institution dedicated to transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities. Today, we proudly support individuals across Northern and Western Sydney, the Central Coast, and the Hunter regions of NSW, adapting to modern needs while maintaining our foundational commitment to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities. Our comprehensive service offerings range from uniquely co-designed social programs focused on adventure, lifestyle, culture, and wellness, to our quality supported employment opportunities through Pack Works and Ground Works. These programs allow our clients to engage in meaningful indoor and outdoor work experiences, fostering skill development in nurturing environments. At Unisson, we are more than a service provider; we are a community deeply invested in the power of human connections. Our approach is rooted in understanding each person’s unique story, finding common ground, and creating meaningful interactions. We emphasise saying ‘yes’ to possibilities, being authentic, and making every connection memorable. As we look forward to the future, we are excited about continuing to evolve and adapt, ensuring that our services not only meet but exceed the needs of the people we support.

What a fantastic day yesterday at our inaugural Food for Thought event! With over 45 attendees in the room, we had an incredible opportunity to learn from the one and only Loki Ball, who shared insights from his platform, Performl. He gave us a fresh perspective on how companies can harness data to achieve the best outcomes—no wonder he was the crowd favourite at lunch, with everyone flocking to him for more wisdom! 🧠💡 A big shoutout as well to our Client Experience team, in particular Georgia McNee for spearheading this event 👏🏼 her hard work truly made the event a success. To everyone who joined us, thank you for your energy and commitment! Together, we’re building a stronger NDIS community, one great idea at a time. And as they say… now that’s some food for thought! 🍽️ #Unisson #FoodForThought #NDIS #Community #GivingBack #BetterTogether #DisabilityNetwork

Celebrating 100 Years of Unisson Disability 🎉 Monday, was a truly special milestone as we gathered at the iconic Sydney Opera House to celebrate Unisson’s 100th birthday and launch our commemorative book! The evening was co-hosted by Sally, one of our brilliant Supported Employees who shares a birthday month with Unisson, and Ryan Packness one of our dedicated Team Leaders. Sally was the star of the evening, shining with joy as the room sang her a special "Happy Birthday" led by Lara, a talented blind musician who brought everyone together through music. Our CEO, Lee Carpenter took us down memory lane by sharing a clip from the award-winning 1980 documentary, Stepping Out, which featured some of our clients as young adults preparing to perform at Opera House. It was a full-circle moment, as a few of them featured in the documentary were present that night, showcasing their ongoing trust in Unisson. In attendance was Gloria, our longest serving support worker with an incredible 36 years of experience caring for people with disabilities. It was a heartwarming reunion with clients, support staff, families, directors (past and present) reflecting on our journey together. While not everyone could join us for this special evening, they were very much in our thoughts. Seeing our clients connect and enjoy the celebration was the highlight of the night! A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey—together, we are creating a better world for people with disabilities. It always has and will, start with heart. 💜🧡💛 Keep a look out for the video of this wonderful celebration in the coming days! #Unisson100 #DisabilitySupport #NDIS #Inclusion #SydneyOperaHouse #Community #Celebration

Today, the CEO Collab is joining The Peaks in Canberra, meeting with members of parliament as part of the www.4abetterndis.com.au campaign. We are asking for their support as we urgently call on the NDIS to: - Reinstate high-intensity supports for participants with behaviour support needs - Pass on wage increases to support coordination and allied health services - Implement a 1% registered provider supplement - Address systemic Supported Independent Living (SIL) indexation errors in participant plans Together, we can create a better NDIS for all. At Unisson we are proud to be part of this important sector collaboration. #4abetterndis #InclusionMatters #SupportCoordination #DisabilityCare #CommunitySupport #NDIS Alliance20 NDS Lee Carpenter
