  • Last weekend Daimler Trucks Gold Coast had a site at the Gold Coast Car & Truck Show, it was their first visit to the show and they had a great time meeting old and hopefully new customers. The Gold Coast Team had a Marquee set up with give aways for the kids, as well as a wide display of our range of trucks with Mercedes Benz, Freightliner & Fuso all represented. Jonathon Hamilton and Dylan Pataky also performed as official Truck Judges for the day and were on hand to award the trophies to the lucky winners. They also raffled a toy electric Mercedes-Benz Actros and the lucky winner and his son were in the audience and were very happy with the prize. The raffled raised over $300 for the Glawry Association which in a not for profit charity that supports children with Type 1 Diabetes and their families. Congratulations to Tony Montgomery and the team who worked hard to put this together and for such a fun filled community day.

  • A great story on Daimler Trucks Brisbane and Daimler Trucks Gold Coast ACFS Port Logistics is operating a Mercedes-Benz eActros as part of an all-electric container delivery pilot program in Sydney. The leading logistics provider is the first company to run the eActros prime mover in Australia as part of the “ACFS Better Way” program, which represents the company’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the logistics industry. The eActros features class-leading electric truck technology, including an e-axle, which integrates electric motors into the drive axle of the truck and replaces a traditional driveshaft. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, says the ACFS pilot program is demonstrating the benefits of running an electric truck in Sydney. “ACFS has a proven track record of striving to reduce its emissions in any way it can, including purchasing Daimler Truck vehicles that meet Euro 6 or equivalent emissions levels such as the Mercedes-Benz Actros and Fuso Shogun,” Mr Whitehead says. ACFS Port Logistics Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Arthur Tzaneros, says the pilot program represents an important milestone for the company. "We are proud to introduce the Mercedes eActros to our fleet and be at the forefront of clean Transport solutions,” he says. Daimler Trucks Brisbane and Gold Coast General Manager, Aaron Camilleri, says ACFS has been a valued client since 2019 and has always been very clear that decarbonation is key priority. “It’s great to see ACFS’ continued commitment to their emissions reduction strategy,” Mr Camilleri says. • GTS Freight Management has taken delivery of six Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks at its Mildura headquarters. The privately-owned company, which loads 500 trailers each day and covers 3 million kilometres every month, selected the 2658 model. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific President and CEO, Daniel Whitehead, handed over the keys to GTS Freight Services Managing Director, Damien Matthews, in Mildura this week. “We are thrilled to see the Actros in GTS black,” Mr Whitehead says. “GTS is achieving great things and is actually growing its business in a challenging economic environment, which shows it is really delivering for its customers. The fact that GTS will be using six Mercedes-Benz Actros support these customers is something we are very proud of,” he adds. Mr Matthews says the Actros trucks, which were delivered by Daimler Trucks Mildura, are a welcome addition to the GTS Freight Services fleet. “We know from previous experience that the Actros is great on fuel and the drivers have already told me, after the first trip, how comfortable and quiet these new trucks are,” he says. “The high level of active safety features that Mercedes-Benz prides itself on is also really welcome because safety underpins everything we do at GTS,” Mr Matthews adds. Importantly, the Mercedes-Benz Actros comes standard with engines that meet Euro 6 emissions ratings, which are stricter than existing Australian trucks emission standards. Mr Matthews was also attracted by the complimentary servicing offer that was part of the package. Mr Matthews was also pleased to work with Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Head of Retail Fleet Sales, Barry Smith, who was able to help him pick the best job for his specific task. The chosen truck runs the OM 473 15.6-litre six-cylinder that pumps out 580hp and 2800Nm of torque and is linked to a 12-speed PowerShift Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). It features Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) which uses topographic map data and GPS to help the truck anticipate terrain and select the optimum shift pattern and engine response for maximum fuel economy including coasting when safe. • King off the road heads to Fire and Emergency show The mighty Mercedes-Benz Unimog is headlining the Daimler Truck presence at the AFAC fire and emergency services show in Sydney on September 5th. This unmatched machine will share the limelight with the trusty Fuso Canter 4x4, which is also a serious off-road vehicle.  The iconic Unimog has remarkable off-road capability that has seen it join high profile all-terrain fleets including the NSW State Emergency Service and Victoria’s Forest Fire Management. The U5023 model on display is a crew cab with an optional six-seater crew cab. A low-emission Euro 6 engine gives the Unimog plenty of power and a gearbox with 16 forward gears and 12 reverse means maximum drivability in tough terrain. Massive ground clearance is enabled thanks to the Unimog’s famed portal axles and it can ford water up to 1.2 metres deep. This unit also features central tyre inflation, which means tyre pressures can be easily adjusted for optimum traction in slippery conditions. The Fuso Canter 4x4 is a rugged and robust off-road capable machine with a low-range gearbox, locking front hubs and a rear Limited Slip Differential (LSD). Customers also have the option of a standard cab or crew cab that seats seven. The Canter 4x4 has a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 6.5 tonne (10.5 tonne GCM) but is also available with a 4.5 tonne GVM so it can be driven on a car licence. Daimler Truck Sales, Marketing and Operations Vice President, Andrew Assimo, says Mercedes-Benz and Fuso have long been trusted by Australian fire and emergency services for their off-road capability and durability.  “We’re thrilled to bring the Unimog and 4x4 Canter to the AFAC show to demonstrate class-leading off-road capability in big and small sizes,” he says. “These two trucks have unmatched capabilities that allow fire and emergency service members carry out their critical work safely and effectively.” AFAC 24 is being held at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour.
