After completing the Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP) Velocity Program in 2019, Ventora Medical had the pleasure of exhibiting at this year's MAP Demo Day at Marvel Stadium's Medallion Club. It was inspiring to hear the pitches from this year’s impressive MAP cohort, showcasing their achievements and valuable learnings gained from the accelerator program. The event brought together a passionate community of innovators and provided a fantastic opportunity to share Ventora Medical's progress since completing the Velocity program, reconnect with familiar faces and build exciting new relationships. We are grateful for the continued support from the Melbourne Entrepreneurial Centre at the University of Melbourne, particularly from Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP) and Translating Research at Melbourne.

Empowering clinicians through innovation. Helping premature babies breathe.
About us
Ventora Medical is a Melbourne-based medical device company with a mission to empower clinicians through innovation. Ventora develops user-focussed products that allow clinicians to make more informed clinical decisions and provide better care. Ventora’s first product is a neonatal airway pressure monitor which aims to provide accurate and continuous monitoring of the delivered airway pressure for neonatal patients on non-invasive respiratory support. By enabling clinicians to provide proactive and tailored respiratory treatment, Ventora’s device aims to reduce failure rates, decrease length of time on respiratory support, improve patient outcomes and reduce cost of care. Ventora has won multiple awards from organisations including the Melbourne Business School, the Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship, the Graeme Clark Institute and the Medtech Actuator, and has raised approximately $3 million across equity-based and non-dilutive funding sources. The Ventora team comprises biomedical engineers, clinical and business experts from a diverse range of backgrounds, who are committed to setting a new standard of neonatal respiratory care.

Last week, our co-founders Amy Yu and Christiane Theda, travelled to Brisbane for the 2024 BridgeTech Program Symposium at QUT Gardens Point. The BridgeTech Program is part of the medtech commercialisation training supported by MTPConnect’s Clinical Translation & Commercialisation Medtech (CTCM) program, of which Ventora was a round 2 recipient. The symposium event covered essential topics including product development pathways, TGA regulatory requirements and financing strategies for medtech innovations, as well as interesting insights looking into the future of healthcare. During their visit to Brisbane, Amy and Christiane also had the privilege of visiting the Mater Mother’s Hospital to meet with neonatologist Dr Friederike Beker. This was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate Ventora's prototype device and obtain important clinical feedback.

Last week our co-founder, Associate Professor Christiane Theda, had the privilege of presenting the topic “Cool new tools in the NICU” at the 2023 Cool Topics in Neonatology conference. The conference, curated to present the latest in newborn research, brought together 250 clinicians and researchers from Australia and New Zealand, who are all dedicated to advancing the best-practice care for ill or prematurely born babies. Christiane shared some insights into Ventora's development and current research aimed at improving non-invasive respiratory support for newborns and more broadly, the medical device development and commercialisation process. Cool Topics 2023 provided an excellent platform to exchange ideas with experts and learn about exciting developments in neonatology. #NeonatalResearch #CoolTopics2023

November 17th marks World Prematurity Day, a day to recognise and raise awareness of the global challenges associated with premature birth. Each year, 15 million premature babies are born worldwide. Premature birth results in an increased risk of life-threatening complications, developmental challenges and life-long health problems, placing immense stress on affected families and creating a substantial financial burden on healthcare systems. At Ventora, we are committed to providing healthcare professionals with the tools necessary to optimise respiratory care and improve outcomes for our tiniest patients. On this day, let’s reflect on the strength and resilience of premature infants and their families. We express gratitude for the incredible strides made in neonatal care thus far and look forward to contributing to the standard of care of the future. #WorldPrematurityDay #NICUCare
