A snapshot of life in paradise 🌊🌴   For Michael Mulliss, Senior Consultant Property, a day at work in the Whitsundays is as picturesque as it sounds. While he describes it as just another average day, we can all agree that it's nothing short of idyllic! Recently, Michael completed a job at Cape Upstart in Shark Bay. Unlike many survey sites, Cape Upstart is located on the mainland but is accessible only by boat. Michael set off via commercial boat, fortunate to have perfect weather for the task ahead. For Michael, it's just another typical day in the life of a surveyor in the Whitsundays, but for the rest of us, it’s a glimpse into a truly unique and beautiful workplace. At Veris, the opportunities we offer are challenging, exciting, and rewarding, and no two days are the same. Interested in a career with us? NAIDOC Week (7 - 14 July) is a time to acknowledge and honour the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's theme, ‘Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud’ honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.    At Veris, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace that values the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all our employees. NAIDOC Week provides us with an opportunity to deepen our understanding and appreciation of Indigenous cultures to reflect on how we can contribute to reconciliation and equality.    We continue to work closely with our alliance partner Wumara Group , with the aim to help close the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. The alliance is now in its third year, and the relationship continues to thrive as we work together on a range of projects, delivering for our clients across multiple industries. ⚫🟡🔴 #VerisAustralia #NAIDOC2024 #NAIDOCWeek #BlakLoudProud

Female representation makes up less than 25% of the Australian spatial industry workforce. At Veris, we’re passionate about changing this statistic and inspiring the next generation of spatial data professionals. That’s why we’ve partnered with Camberwell Girls Grammar School to create a dynamic learning experience sparked by student interest in geospatial career paths as part of their Upskill Program. Our Melbourne team had an incredible time participating in Camberwell Girls Grammar School Day last week. We welcomed the students into our world, giving them a firsthand look at the real-world applications of their classroom learning. They witnessed a range of exciting technologies, including laser scanning at Margaret Court Arena, assessing overshadowing risks at the Shrine of Remembrance, exploring drone applications, observing AI in detecting road defects, and experiencing GIS in action. Christopher Gill, Baden Coates, Mina Jahanshahi, and Kellie Dean shared invaluable insights into their surveying careers, emphasising the incredible opportunities in the surveying and spatial industry. A special mention to Josh Denholm, who shared his experiences working on the Metro Tunnel Project and presented the fascinating process of tunnelling beneath the city. Our team was thrilled to share our passion for surveying, engineering, and spatial data. We’re excited to continue our collaboration with CGGS, forging the next generation of geospatial engineers! #Veris #CGGS #Surveying #SpatialData
