Remembrance Day is this Monday, 11 November. On this day, we pause in silence for one minute at 11am to remember the bravery and sacrifice of all those who have served and continue to serve Australia and its allies in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, as well as their families. The NSW Remembrance Day service will be held at the Cenotaph at Sydney’s Martin Place at 10.30am. All members of the public are invited to attend the service and pay their respects. Those wishing to be seated at the service should contact our Access and Inclusion Officer, Karen Wade on accessibility@premiersdepartment.nsw.gov.au or (02) 9228 4613. Today we commemorate War Widows Day, a special day to recognise war widows and widowers of members of the Australian Defence Force.   We acknowledge the contribution and personal sacrifice made by more than 15,000 surviving widows and widowers across NSW and reflect on the grief and isolation that can come with being a veteran spouse.   The widow and widower experience comes with its own unique weight of service and sacrifice, and it is often overlooked. Today, and every day, we encourage you to take the time to connect with a widow or widower in your community.   On this day, we also recognise the birthday of Mrs Jessie Vasey OBE CBE (1897–1966), founder of the Australian War Widows Guild in 1945.   A commemoration service will be held today at the Cenotaph in Martin Place.   Families of Veterans Guild   #WarWidowsDay #LestWeForget #WeWillRememberThem
