It was great consulting with RMIT College of Design and Social Context to identify some of the screen industry’s critical skills shortages, with a focus on upskilling production accountants and assistants. We're excited to see the talent coming out of this course in the future. 👏
Our School of Media and Communication is partnering with the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) to deliver new short courses to directly address the screen skills shortages identified in Victoria. AFTRS and RMIT consulted with VicScreen to determine some of the screen industry’s most immediate needs and will offer 4 short courses in person, starting from early December. This includes a five-day Production Accounting Intensive, followed by Intro to Producing & Screen Business (2 days), Assistant Directing Fundamentals (2 days) and Locations Department Intensive (5 days). Professor Lisa French, RMIT Dean of Media and Communication said that “RMIT is deeply committed to working with and enhancing the industry by providing education and training that not only responds to the broader needs of a rapidly evolving landscape, but also addresses critical skills gaps. "We are enormously excited to be partnering with AFTRS to deliver short courses with critical real-world applications. "Through this partnership we will support the screen industry in Victoria and Australia by developing the expertise to drive innovation, as well as to have the talent to support sector growth”.
