Hemp building blocks are created by combining hemp hurd and lime binder. These blocks serve as an alternative to traditional building materials. Today, we are celebrating International Tequila Day by shining a light on the wonderful plant that makes the beverage - agave.   Agave tequilana, also known as blue agave, is the key ingredient in tequila. Only if it is grown and distilled in certain areas of Mexico can it be considered tequila otherwise, if grown elsewhere, the beverage is known as agave spirit.    Vircura and The Madgett's Block recently planted 1,200 blue agave in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. We are thrilled to welcome intern and PhD candidate Sab Sohrabi to the Vircura team for the next five months. Sab will collaborate with the R&D team to develop an efficient tissue culture system for agave to increase plant numbers in a laboratory setting. Currently pursuing his PhD in Plant Sciences at the University of Adelaide, Sab previously earned his Master's in Biotechnology and Molecular Genetics in Horticultural Crops from the University of Tehran, Iran. "I'm excited to contribute to this project at Vircura, learn from industry experts and apply my knowledge in a real-world context.
