We’re always keen for a day out at The Keppels! Our senior environmental officer, Dr. Mark Jensen, and our marine operations manager, James Hayman, enjoyed some lovely late autumn sunshine last week – with just a spot of sampling to break up the day. This monitoring is undertaken as part of a collaborative marine program that collects data on water quality at select spots along the east coast of Queensland. The information is part of a larger commitment to monitoring and protecting the ongoing health of the Great Barrier Reef, which we are lucky enough to have in our very backyard! If you’d like to talk to us about water quality or marine monitoring for your next project, get in touch with Dr Felicity Melville to chat. #waterquality #marineecology #environmentalmanagement

Our newest recruit, Grace Nord, had the chance to get up close with some phytoplankton on a recent research trip. It may not look that impressive at the bottom of a sampling beaker, but did you know that these little organisms are responsible for contributing roughly half of the oxygen in the Earth’s atmosphere?🍃 Phytoplankton are primary producers that form the base of the marine food web.🌊 They convert sunlight and nutrients into organic matter through photosynthesis, which provides energy for the entire ecosystem☀️ They also play a key role in carbon sequestration. So it’s no surprise that they form a crucial part of many of our marine sampling campaigns, as we help our clients to monitor and manage the environments and ecosystems in which they operate. Here is our Bundaberg buoy drop that took place last week. James Hayman, Dr. Mark Jensen and Carys Hanning headed out on one of our dedicated research vessels to set up the equipment and make sure all was running smoothly. Contained within the buoy is a custom water quality monitoring device, which will measure a range of data from the Burnett River 24/7 including temperature, salt levels in the water, turbidity and sediment, and more. Our hands-on environmental and marine specialists – and range of technical in-house equipment – are among the many reasons our clients choose to work with us, time and again, to support their vital infrastructure programs and services. Speak to our director, Dr Felicity Melville, about our diverse water quality monitoring services today. #waterquality #environmentalmanagement #ports

Equipment in focus this week: here’s a Dust Master Pro 7000, being attended to by one of our environmental specialists, Melanie Alpen. In this pic, Mel’s at a busy commercial site that has a range of neighbouring communities and public spaces. The equipment facilitates real-time monitoring of conditions in the surrounding areas. It works by collecting dust particle samples in conjunction with meteorological data to provide accurate environmental readings. This can help companies to manage their environmental and social commitments and take proactive action on days where potential elevations or issues may arise. Ask us how we may be able to help you manage specialist monitoring equipment at your sites. Dr Felicity Melville #airquality #dust #environmentalmonitoring

Our versatile environmental specialist, Anna Skillington, recently headed out with colleague Dr. Ralph Alquezar (📷credit) on a dust sampling expedition. In addition to water quality monitoring, we regularly work with industry to monitor air quality around diverse sites. We can provide coverage from short-term campaign monitoring through to long-term and permanent air quality sampling. And we deliver detailed data analysis, interpretation and reports to help our clients manage their environmental reporting requirements. Keen to know more? Reach out to Ralph or Dr Felicity Melville for a chat. #environmentalmonitoring #airquality #dust

Another year draws to a close, and it’s time to yet again thank all of our wonderful team members, clients and industry colleagues for a fabulous 12 months.🎄⭐📅🙏🙏 We’re always proud to reflect on the achievements and successes of another year gone by, and in 2023 we undertook water quality sampling at nearly 800 sites, from locations as far north as Papua New Guinea and as far south as Christchurch, New Zealand. We also continued to expand our sediment, soil and groundwater services, collecting more than 200 soil samples and monitoring more than 160 groundwater bores. We couldn’t do it without the fabulous VE crew – and our extended team at Trinity Consultants Australia – whose enthusiasm and expertise are always appreciated! Our office will close this year from Friday, 22 December - Tuesday, 2 January 2024. Any urgent queries during that time, please contact our managing director, Dr Felicity Melville, via email. See you all in the new year!! #waterquality #environmentalservices #environmentalmanagement #christmas #newyear
