About us
The Voice of the Patient is a healthcare initiative that collects and analyzes patient-reported data to improve healthcare outcomes and the patient experience. Our mission is to refocus the healthcare system on the patient. With our unique approach, we empower patients to have a voice in their care and work with healthcare providers and insurers to deliver high-quality services that meet their needs. Our tagline, "Empowering Patients. Improving Healthcare. Discover the Voice of the Patient," captures our commitment to putting the patient at the center of everything we do. By giving patients a platform to share their experiences and providing healthcare providers and insurers with valuable data-driven insights, we aim to improve healthcare outcomes and reduce costs. Join us on this journey to transform healthcare by discovering the Voice of the Patient. Built on the foundations of trust, learning, and improving, we have been working with patients in the private health insurance market for several years. Launched in 2020 in partnership with Insight Actuaries and the AHSA, we aim to measure, support and increase the value of healthcare in Australia for all.

Using data to support learning and improvement is the core of what Voice of the Patient aims to do. It is so exciting to see this data and how great care leads to excellent patient outcomes. #WorldPatientSafetyDay #PrivateHealthcare #VOP #PatientSafety
This month, we marked World Patient Safety Day on September 17. Every week, we have been highlighting insights and findings around patient safety, experience and wellbeing from the Voice of the Patient. So, what’s the key to better patient wellbeing and safety? Voice of the Patient continually finds that underpinning the excellent work of many private hospitals in Australia is their ability to communicate and engage proactively with patients. Discussing patient needs, making sure they feel heard and cared for, and addressing their pain in a timely manner, are what differentiate the best hospitals in the country. This is especially true if we look at key diagnosis groups, such as knee and hip surgeries – both of which are important elective procedures largely funded and delivered by Australia’s leading private healthcare sector. By surveying patients and understanding their experiences and perspectives on outcomes, we can collectively work to improve patient safety, wellbeing and experiences across the board. It is exciting to see patients' perspectives being used to define what matters the most in healthcare. “What is not defined cannot be measured. What is not measured, cannot be improved. What is not improved, is always degraded” - William Thomson Kelvin Using patient-reported data to develop a health system that continually learns and improves will ensure that Australians will continue to access some of the best care in the world. #ValueBasedCare #PatientReportedOutcomes #PatientExperience #BetterHealthOutcomes #HealthcareExcellence #VoP #VoiceOfThePatient
Today marks #WorldPatientSafetyDay. The World Health Organization Global Patient Safety Action Plan stresses the importance of patient-reported experience and outcome measures in understanding why safety incidents occur and devising solutions to prevent them. Voice of the Patient provides an important development resource in Australian healthcare by engaging patients across the country about their experience of care and elevating patient perspectives in healthcare. We’ve surveyed tens of thousands of patients every year and have been able to identify and share examples of optimal patient experiences of care. Through Voice of the Patient we know that patients have an important voice in contributing to better safety and outcomes in healthcare. Very excited to be able to contribute to World Patient Safety day with the Australian Health Service Alliance. Measurement is the foundation for improvement. By understanding the most important aspects of patient care, we can build a health system that consistently learns and improves.
World Patient Safety Day falls on September 17, and to mark this important day of awareness, we’re highlighting insights and findings from the Voice of the Patient this month. One of the best ways to ensure all Australians access safe healthcare includes helping patients understand their health journey and reducing unknowns or misconceptions. Patient safety is essential in all settings and levels of healthcare provision and is impacted by multiple interrelated factors. One of those is patient comorbidities. Through Voice of the Patient, we can identify that patients with multiple chronic conditions are more likely to report adverse experiences during their hospital stay. But Voice of the Patient also indicates that the best performing private hospitals are more engaged with these patients and more effective in supporting them through their care journey. By measuring what matters most to patients and understanding their experiences, and perspectives on outcomes, we can collectively work to improve patient safety and wellbeing across the board. VoP and the Australian Health Service Alliance have been working to give patients a voice in the Australian private health sector for more than four years. By listening to patients, we can build a system that continues to deliver some of the best care in the world. #WorldPatientSafetyDay #VoiceofthePatient #AHSA #PatientSafety #HealthcareExcellence
World Patient Safety Day falls on September 17, and to mark this important day of awareness, we’re highlighting insights and findings from the Voice of the Patient this month. Australia operates one of the world’s best and most revered health systems. Our healthcare professionals are of the highest calibre, our private hospitals are top notch, and our outcomes are world leading. We know that by measuring our performance, things get better. The Voice of the Patient enables Australia’s already high performing private hospitals to continue to improve by providing feedback from the patient. To date, we found that 96% of patients in private hospitals report a good to very good overall experience. Improving healthcare experiences and outcomes is important and not solely the responsibility of the providers. We can all play a role. By surveying patients and understanding their experiences and perspectives on outcomes, we can collectively work to improve patient safety, wellbeing and experiences across the board. We are excited to see Daniel Erasmus, from the Voice of the Patient, recently share his insights in an opinion piece on the Healthcare Channel. As we step into 2024, the conversation around value-based healthcare continues to gain momentum, not just in Australia but globally. #ICHOM A pivotal challenge we face in advancing practical solutions and innovation lies in both the scarcity of patient-reported data a well as the interpretation of that data in the context of healthcare service delivery and costing. This is essential to truly understand and enhance the value of treatments for patients. A big thanks to Healthcare Channel for highlighting this critical issue and supporting the endeavours of the #VoiceofthePatient platform in revolutionising Australia's private health sector. #PREMs #PROMs #DataDrivenCare #ValueBasedHealthcare #PatientExperience #patientreportedoutcomes #AHSA #InsightActuaries #ICHOM Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gvSQjaSE
