Make hay while the sun shines! Did you know? One Moon day is about 2 Earth weeks long. The prolonged period in the Sun means the temperatures can swing dramatically—from as low as -173°C during the lunar night in the polar regions to as high as 127°C at the equator during lunar midday. Thermal management subsystems are required for lunar rovers to manage the extreme temperature fluctuations. Over the course of Stage 1, our team at ELO₂ has modeled and analysed the environmental effects on the rover to iterate through the rover design and ensure it can survive and operate in these conditions. The Trailblazer mission lasts for the two-week daytime at the lunar south pole, requiring ROO-ver to withstand the extreme conditions, including intense radiation and wide temperature variations, ensuring we make the most of the lunar day! #Moon #Rover #ROOver #GDayMoon #Trailblazer #MoonToMars #ELO2 #Space #SpaceInnovation #AustralianMade  . . . VSSEC had a fantastic week collaborating with Ballarat Tech School supporting the Boys In STEM and Girls In STEM programs. The students had the incredible opportunity to learn and engage with our Radio Telescope and participate in an Astronomy Night using optical telescopes. We are looking forward to the winning students visiting VSSEC for our Mission to Mars program!

We had a fantastic time at the A24 Airspace Awards Gala Dinner hosted by Aviation/Aerospace Australia! Honoured to be a finalist for the Outstanding STEAM Outreach Award. Thank you to everyone for your support and congratulations to all the winners!
