Last week, our Director Dr Tracey Wilkinson visited ArthroLase, a company aiming to improve #orthopaedic patient recovery and the surgical experience through an innovative intelligent joint resurfacing system. We always have a great time meeting innovating WA companies - thank you for having us!
It was a privilege to welcome Jennifer Lawrence GAICD and Dr. Tracey Wilkinson to ArthroLase today. We had the pleasure of showcasing the innovative strides we're making with our world-first laser arthroplasty system and next-generation, bone-sparing orthopaedic implants. At ArthroLase, we're equally proud of our commitment to advancing diversity and supporting women in technology here in Western Australia. As Women in Technology WA Inc. We are incredibly proud of the legacy of WA's Nobel Laureates Professor Robin Warre and Professor Barry Marshall! You can read more about their discovery that stomach ulcers are caused by bacteria, not stress (a discovery which has positively impacted the lives of countless people around the world) here:
"My fish and chips were just put down in front of me when someone rang and said, 'Hello this is Stockholm speaking, you've won the Nobel Prize this year.' I could feel my face going white." Robin Warren was sitting in a pub in Perth, Australia opposite collaborator Barry Marshall when he got the Nobel Prize call – letting them know that they had both been awarded the 2005 medicine prize for their discovery of how stomach ulcers are caused by bacteria, not stress. On 7 October someone will receive a call to tell them they have received this year's medicine prize. Follow us to hear the news first.
