Recently our Queensland team has been working on a unique single-story home, partially built into a hill for natural insulation, with a concrete rooftop covered by a natural lawn. Despite its beautiful design, the home has been experiencing water ingress during heavy rains and seepage through floor-to-wall joints, control joints, and cracks in the retaining wall. Following a detailed inspection, we pinpointed the root causes — hydrostatic pressure, capillary action, and deteriorating membranes. Our comprehensive solution included both positive-side remedial waterproofing and reverse-side waterproofing inside the home. We will also be enhancing water management with subsoil drainage, to protect the home from future water issues. Several internal walls in a Northern Sydney home had been affected by prolonged rising damp, likely caused by a deteriorated or missing damp proof course and excessive groundwater reaching the brick footings. This led to the porous brickwork absorbing moisture, compromising the render, and causing paint to peel. Our NSW team implemented damp course injections (chemical DPC injections) to stop water from rising through the walls. The next step involves installing sub-soil drainage to divert excess groundwater and protect the footings. These measures will safeguard the building and ensure its long-term resilience.
