August 2024 marked a momentous occasion for WAF, with the millionth ounce of gold produced from our Sanbrado Gold Operations in Burkina Faso! It has been an incredible journey since the first gold pour at the project in March 2020. None of this would have been possible without our amazing team, and the hard work that each and every member of our staff put in every single day. We remain on track for +420,000 oz per annum gold production from our Sanbrado Gold Operations and Kiaka Gold Project by 2025.

Last month West African Resources launched a community blood donation campaign to help meet the urgent local needs exacerbated by cases of malaria, dengue fever and complications from childbirths. Chief Medical Officer of the Zorgho Health District Dr Delphin Kaboré noted that since 2021, up to 80% of patients at local health facilities requiring blood products are referred on to other regional health facilities due to a lack of product. Crucial support from West African Resources will see lives being saved, most importantly women in childbirth and children suffering anemia due to malaria. During the launch of the first collection program our Community Relations team joined the community as blood donors, with 43 bags of blood collected. A massive mobilisation of the population able to donate blood has been requested by the local health authorities. The health and wellbeing of our local communities remains a priority for WAF. Our campaign aims to collect 1000 bags of blood, and will run until the end of the winter season (September) in the villages and communities surrounding our Sanbrado Gold Operations.
