We might be the first true indoor snow resort in Australia, but we're not the first indoor snow centre in the world! In fact, indoor snow centres have been around, in one form or another since the 1920's. Yep, over 100 years. Many were little more than sheds on stilts covering existing snow fields, some used a concoction of chemicals to mimic snow, and then in 2005 Ski Dubai (maybe the best known indoor ski centre) opened and changed the game. Currently there are over 50 indoor snow centres in China alone! In 2028, when WSW opens, we'll change the game yet again with a true indoor snow and ski resort creating a genuine alpine experience! How can you possibly attract 1.35 million visitors a year? That'll double the number of tourists coming to Penrith? It's a bold claim, but we didn't make that number up. We asked people who figure this out for a living and they told us. When Winter Sports World opens in 2028, it will be the closest major tourist attraction to the Nancy Bird Walton Western Sydney International Airport which will be handling around 10 million passengers per year. With such a unique offering, being so close and easily accessible to the airport and with a luxury 170 room hotel on site (many of the rooms with snow views) 1.35 million visitors per year is actually pretty conservative. We can't wait welcome visitors and bring more tourists, and more opportunity for local jobs and local businesses, to Western Sydney when we open the doors to Winter Sports World!

Over 3000m2. That's over half the size of a rugby league field, and how much space will be dedicated to snowplay. Building snowmen, snowball fights, tobogganing, sledding, zip lining, tubing and just enjoying being in the snow. You'll be able to do all of this, and more in our massive snowplay area. And if you want to keep an eye on the kids, but don't fancy getting your feet cold, you'll be able to watch the action from one of our unique skybridges. Now that's cool!

Kaleidoscopic light, cheery sounds and a happy buzz of people enjoying themselves. If you want to know what a visit to Winter Sports World will be like, go to the Penrith City Council Real Festival this weekend. It's along the Riverlink Tourism Precinct in Penrith across the road from us. It's that vibe, that festival atmosphere we'll be capturing at Winter Sports World. 📸 REAL Festival.

Today, take a moment out of your day to ask a friend, family member or even a someone you don’t know, ‘RUOK?’ It seems like such a simple question but could genuinely change someone’s life. Then make it a habit and ask someone EVERY day. Who will you be checking in with today?

How can an indoor snow resort cater to the needs of our Winter Olympians? Glad you asked! Repetition is the key to building skills at the elite sporting level. Basketball coach John Wooden (nicknamed The Wizard of Westwood') famously said "The eight laws of learning are Explanation, Demonstration, Imitation, Repetition, Repetition, Repetition, Repetition, Repetition" The 'always perfect snow, always perfect weather' conditions at Winter Sports World will create the ideal environment for elite athletes to practise specific skills over and over and over again. So yes, an indoor resort is just the thing for elite athletes 🎿

By now we all know what the exterior of Winter Sports World will look like with it's unique design, but until now the interior has been a mystery! No longer! Picture this. You're standing at the top of a 300m long ski run looking down towards the cafe at the bottom of the slope. Yep, this is what it's going to look like at Winter Sports World. Maybe you've decided to come, play and stay, not just visit for the day. Check out the view of our snow play area you'll have from your hotel room! Looks cool hey! Stay tuned for more as we continue to refine the interior design of Australia's first genuine indoor snow and ski resort!

Recently our leader and visionary, Peter Magnisalis , was invited to speak at the Major Projects Conference held at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) . Peter outlined his vision for Winter Sports World, how it will become an economic growth engine for Western Sydney, transform the face of tourism in our region and deliver numerous community benefits. While the entire presentation generated an enormous amount of interest, one of the most exciting elements was the release of CGI imagery showing what the interior of WSW will look like. We'll be releasing more of these images over the coming weeks. Check out more of what Peter had to say about his presentation here 👉 https://loom.ly/5JqQ848
