Women on Boards supports women on their board & leadership journey
About us
Women on Boards, founded in 2006 in Australia and the UK in 2012, is a thriving network of extraordinary women who come together as they commence or continue their board and leadership journeys. Our vision is to have gender balance and cultural diversity within board and leadership roles. Since our inception in 2006, WOB’s vision has been to increase the number of women on boards and in leadership roles to achieve a minimum of 40% women on boards and across leadership roles. We welcome the fact that many other advocacy groups have since adopted our founding vision. Many boards across many sectors have achieved this 40% milestone. However within gender we now need to look more closely at cultural diversity on boards and raise awareness and create opportunities for culturally diverse women to connect, network and interact with boards. WOB Membership is open to all. It's free to register with a fee to join as a Full or Premium Member. Advantages of membership include: - Access to full details of all board & committee positions on our Vacancy Board - Support when applying for board roles - Access to WOBShare, our member-only online community - Up to 30% discount on WOB events & workshops - Access to free member only events, such as WOBChat - Information & resources to assist and motivate you We also promise to inform, support, connect, mentor and encourage you in your directorship and career journey.

Being on a board is a team effort for Rugby Union fan and NED, Paula Davies. South Australian Paula Davies is also a senior legal executive with strong corporate governance, probity, integrity and risk management focus - and also a die-hard Rugby Union fan - who serves on the AHPRA board of the Psychology Australia’s Immediate Action Committee (PIAC). >> Read Paula's lessons from the Boardroom https://ow.ly/gYzn50TEL3z

Great to see our newest WOBSX Sydney syndicate kick off this week with Chair Sara Watts. If you are located in Melbourne, applications are still open for our next Melbourne syndicate to be chaired by experienced ASX Director Kelly Humphreys >> Find out more https://bit.ly/3ZSPq3t Dan Liszka
Earlier this week I chaired the first of 8 sessions of the Marie Coleman WOBSX syndicate. WoBSX is the brainchild of Women on Boards and Dan Liszka and specifically aims to help women prepare for ASX board roles. Each syndicate is named after a leading Australian woman - I was in the inaugural, Helen Lynch, syndicate several years ago chaired by the fabulous Jon Brett. Marie Coleman is a nonagenarian trail-blazing public servant, feminist, social activist, and the first woman to head an Australian Commonwealth statutory agency. We were very fortunate (and excited) to have her speak to us on the day. I asked her three questions: Q: What are you most proud of? A: The work I did post-retirement in advocating for and defending women's reproductive health and maternity (now parental) leave entitlements during the early 2000's. Q: What do you wish you'd done differently? A: Early on, I was in too much of a hurry and I should have done some things more slowly. Q: What piece of advice would you share? A: Be persistent, especially if you are convinced that your path is the right one - don't just be persuaded by the other voices. I hope I am as lucid, thoughtful and active as Marie is when I get to my nineties! In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing where these women take this opportunity and to helping them along their way. #womensupportingwomen #mensupportingwomen #femaledirectors #womenonboards #goodgovernance #nonexecutivedirectors Mary Adam Leesa Bauer GAICD Madeleine Beaumont Mandy Bushell Sharon Eacott Jane H. McKinsey & Company’s 2024 Women in the Workplace Report is the largest study of women in corporate America. On it’s 10th Anniversary, reflecting back on the progress made the study has found that three things are true: 1) Companies took action, and this led to important progress — more women in leadership, better policies for employees, and increased efforts to foster inclusion. 2) Change is hard and messy, and 3) America is somewhere in the middle of the shifts needed to fix the pipeline and make the culture of work more equitable. If you look closely at the numbers, gains are more fragile and less extensive than they first appear, which means companies need to push further. Sound familiar? >> Worth a read https://ow.ly/V3ok50TEKWK
