We’ve just released our annual 'What Women Want' report, and while the findings may not come as a surprise, they are certainly a call to action. Women voted ‘flexibility’ as the most important work policy, yet many feel forced to work extra hours just to maintain access to these policies due to poor implementation. This creates a cycle where the very flexibility meant to support them ends up contributing to burnout. So, what needs to change? Leaders need to lead by example. Encouraging employees to set and respect boundaries around their working hours is crucial. Time spent with family and on personal well-being should never be compromised. It’s time to shift the focus from working harder to working smarter—without sacrificing balance. #WorkplaceWellness #WhatWomenWant #HealthyBoundaries #WORK180
About us
Women continue to face a multitude of barriers in the workplace, which are often compounded with prejudices such as racism, ableism, and ageism. These inequities are more than just a moral issue; holding back over half the world’s population is negatively impacting us all, including businesses. The WORK180 team is dedicated to removing these barriers, and we do this by focusing on our mission: To give every woman the power of informed choice when making career decisions. We shine a spotlight on workplace policies, benefits and initiatives, so that all women can make more informed decisions about where they choose to work *by women, we mean all who identify and/or experience oppression as a woman (including cis, trans, intersex, non-binary or gender non-conforming individuals).

The economy is still tough, and many companies are facing financial challenges. While they may not be able to offer pay raises right now, they still want to recognize the hard work and dedication of their teams. As a result, some are offering promotions in title, even if they can’t provide the financial rewards employees might expect. Although this may not feel like the full recognition you deserve, it’s important to remember that a title change can still reflect your growth and potential. Use this as an opportunity to demonstrate your abilities and position yourself for future advancement. Many employers will assume higher pay with the higher job title and it will put you in a great negotiating position in the future. #careergrowth #worktrends #drypromotions

Australia’s birthrate continues to drop, currently at 1.5 babies per woman, making it the 30th lowest in the world. The cost of living in Australia—particularly housing prices—has skyrocketed, making it difficult for families to save or feel financially secure enough to have children. Additionally, the lack of affordable childcare, increasing healthcare costs, and stagnant wages have added to the strain. For many, the "one and done" approach is becoming more common, and "triangle families" are on the rise as individuals seek alternative ways to navigate family life amidst economic uncertainty. Demographers point to a growing lack of enthusiasm about the future as a key factor behind the declining birthrate. Worries over climate change, the affordability crisis, and gender equality are all contributing to a pessimistic outlook, making it harder for people to envision a future where they can comfortably raise a family. At WORK180, Paid Parental leave is part of our criteria for endorsement, if having a child or many is part of your five year plan, you'll want an employer who has the policies that support you.
