With Cyclone Alfred approaching the coast of SE Queensland and Northern NSW some of these tips from the globally renowned #leadership experts at the Center for Creative Leadership might be helpful for community and business leaders responding to and recovering from this particular weather event. Leaders can take action before, during, and after a crisis to support team members, reduce loss, and keep things operating as normal as possible. https://bit.ly/3QLZQfw Our friends and colleagues at Queensland Health and the #queenslandambulanceservice will be in our thoughts over the next few days. A recent survey from Australian HR Institute (AHRI) highlighted that 60% of Australian leaders felt that they were struggling to fulfill their roles. The Australian Productivity Commission reports that while Australians are hard workers (5th highest in the OECD) we rank much lower in being able to get the best out of others by working smarter (16th in the OECD). #leadershipdevelopment and #executivedevelopment can help our leaders move from 'struggle town' to thriving, and can also have a demonstratable effect in shifting the dial on workplace productivity and performance. This great article from the Center for Creative Leadership outlines some key steps and approaches. https://lnkd.in/gmWE_Spp Michael Curtin Ric Leahy CSC Jackie Watkins Christopher Looi Anne Bartlett Dr Eugene Fernandez Mellisa Clark (she/her) Judith Kent Trina Pitcher Ross Anderson Dr Lynn Scoles MBBS GAICD

One of the key roles for leaders is getting our teams aligned around what is important so that it gets done. And it's more likely to get 'done' when our team mates 'buy into' what we think is important. On many of the #leadership programs we run, we utilise this fantastic #directionalignmentcommitment framework developed by the purpose-driven teams at the Center for Creative Leadership. Check out the short video is you want to get the right things done by aligning and gaining commitment from your team members. We were delighted to help sponsor some of the materials utilised by the Helping Hands Program founded by Dr Matthew Henricks as he ran this program at his son's primary school. We love using this as an activity on some of our XEd Space customised leadership and team programs. The participants really get a sense of working towards something bigger than themselves. It's well worth checking out the kind of work that the Helping Hands Program do and the important impact they are having internationally. We look forward to many future opportunities to support these kinds of initiatives. It was fantastic to be able to give back at my son’s local primary school today (Balgowlah Heights Public School). Together the staff made and donated 6 life changing prosthetic hands as part of the Helping Hands Program. Special thanks go to XEd Space who part-sponsored this activity along with Henricks Consulting Pty Ltd. Over the last few months it has been emotionally difficult stepping down from the operational aspects of running Helping Hands. However, the change has given me more free time, and I really enjoyed the opportunity to volunteer at BHPS this afternoon. Of course I cook democracy sausages every election time to raise money for the P&C, but it was nice to be able to share my work in a more direct way today. This was such a wonderful group. They were attentive, thoughtful, and emotionally-vested throughout the experience. Of course this didn’t surprise me because we have had such a positive experience at the school. It’s hard to imagine how anyone could hope to receive a better education than the one that is available at our local public school. #helpinghands #bethechange

On behalf of the XEd Space team we wish everyone a (hopefully) relaxing and enjoyable Christmas and New Year period. A special shout out to those members of our team, some of our client organisations and many of the program participants we have worked with this year that are #essentialworkers, in the #emergencyservices or serving with Defence Australia. We appreciate the additional sacrifices you all make in serving us while we enjoy some downtime and family time - thank you. Michael Curtin and Ric Leahy CSC have been doing some terrific work with some key clients in the past couple of months helping them put together leadership strategies (not just training programs) that are linked directly to the business' particular strategies, and therefore to drive their outcomes. We are tremendously grateful that all our work at XEd Space is powered by the research and experience of the Center for Creative Leadership. We love these five questions, and the more important question that sits behind them all: "what kind of leadership do you need for the strategy you have set". #leadershipstrategy #leadershipdevelopment Jackie Watkins Dr Lynn Scoles MBBS GAICD Ross Anderson Trina Pitcher Christopher Looi Joanne Hansen PCC - Leadership and Team Coach Margo Lockhart Brian Freestone
