Today we are publishing our research into gender equality in WordPress businesses. Did you know that:
🙋♀️ Only 4% of companies that have pledged to WordPress’ Five for the Future have a woman in their top leadership role
🙋♀️ Only 5 of the 69 WordPress VIP Agency partners have a woman in their top leadership role
🙋♀️ Nearly a quarter of women who responded to our survey have experienced bullying, harassment, and/or discrimination due to their gender in their workplace, compared to 4% of men
🙋♀️ One in five women have had their judgement questioned due to their gender, compared to 1% of men
🙋♀️ 55% of our survey respondents report to a man, and only 24% to a woman
These are just some of the things we uncovered in the course of our research, which I’m happy to share with you all today. In our report you will find:
👉 The results of our Gender Equality in WordPress businesses survey and additional research within the industry. Use this to learn where your business sits in the industry
👉 Interviews with women sharing their experiences (thank you to Marieke van de Rakt, Tarsha McCormick, Wendie Huis in 't Veld, and Miriam Schwab for participating!)
👉 Practical guidance on how you can take steps to gender equality in your business, whatever its size
Please, share widely, and if you are headed to #wcus it will make some excellent travel reading for you.
Thanks to Raelene Morey for authoring this with me on behalf of WP Includes, to Francesca Marano and Dee (Denise) Teal for their contributions, to everyone who the time to complete the survey, and to Human Made, Crowd Favorite, Syde GmbH, and XWP for their allyship and support <3
