YMCA South Australia is excited to announce that we will be opening a new ELC service in Strathalbyn in early 2025, expanding our Early Learning presence in South Australia. The new service will provide long day care for babies – kindergarten aged children, as well as OSHC services, which are essential for the wider Strathalbyn Community. We are looking forward to welcoming children and families into our new centre.

About us
Established in 1850, the YMCA of South Australia is one of Australia's oldest and most respected community organisations. As a community based organisation, we work collaboratively with government, non-profit groups and partners to provide a range of programs and services to build strong people, strong families and strong communities. Attracting more than 2 million participants annually, we provide services to the community from over 15 locations across the state. The YMCA of South Australia is a not for profit organisation governed by an elected Board of Directors who, in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer, establish strategic directions, but delegate operation control through a professional management team.

Today we open the doors and start lessons at our brand new gymnastics centre at the State Sports Park in Gepps Cross, located on level one of the Croatian Sports Centre. The centre will be a hub for recreational gymnastics for families in the north and north-eastern suburbs, offering a range of programs including KinderGym, Mini Gym, Recreational Gymnastics, Action Gym and Inclusion Gymnastics. Over the past week we have welcomed hundreds of YMCA OSHC children who visited as part of their Vacation Care program. As well as welcoming the community for the community open day on the weekend, giving an opportunity for families to check out the new location before lessons start. We look forward to welcoming all of the families enrolled, and providing children a valuable opportunity to learn fundamental movement skills through gymnastics, and build healthy habits through movement.

Our Allied Health team recently opened their new location at the Holdfast Bay Community Centre, which will offer exercise physiology and clinical Pilates services. We had over 40 community members attend our launch event to meet the team, enjoy some morning tea and learn more about the services on offer and how they may benefit their health and wellbeing. Thanks to everyone involved and to those who came along!

🟡 Asking someone "R U OK?" can raise feelings of uneasiness within ourselves, but R U OK Day encourages us to push through those feelings and call or chat to someone who you think might need a small amount of your time, just to hear where they are at, and to show they are not alone. "By having regular, meaningful conversations, you build trust and normalise talking about what’s really going on, so when the people in your world find themselves struggling, they know you’re someone they can talk to" (R U OK Day) 👉 For more information and a guide to taking the first steps in a conversation, visit ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

What opportunities are available for businesses to supply to the South Australian government? Hear from Mossop Construction + Interiors and YMCA South Australia, about their work to upgrade the Thebarton Aquatic Centre.
