In recent years, there have been many cases of power infrastructure cables deteriorating due to long-term operation. When the power infrastructure is interrupted, unplanned plant shutdowns are unavoidable. Accidents are inevitable unless risk avoidance measures are implemented to deal with progressive deterioration over time. The DTSX1 Fiber Optic Heat Detector is the solution for monitoring abnormal cable temperatures and cable tunnel fires. A single DTSX detector has long-range, wide-range, and constant temperature monitoring capabilities over distances of up to 50 km, resulting in stable plant operation. 🔧 Application Success Story: Optimizing Asphalt Residue Flow at a Major Refinery🔧 A major refinery needed precise mass flow measurement of asphalt residue— a very heavy fuel oil— to their cracking oven. The challenge? Managing high-temperature fluids (320°C) while ensuring the asphalt didn’t solidify inside the tubes, which would make cleaning nearly impossible. 💡 Solution: Yokogawa installed two heat-traced ROTAMASS TI units—one on the storage tank outlet line and another on the recirculation. By comparing the two flow rates, the refinery accurately measured total oven consumption while maintaining fluid flow at high temperatures. 🚀Results: With ROTAMASS TI’s superior heat-tracing and insulation, the refinery achieved better performance and reliability. This success is now a reference for other refineries seeking similar solutions. - Density at reference conditions - Concentration levels of miscible or immiscible fluids Additionally, with the integration of extra measurement inputs, ROTAMASS TI can determine fluid viscosity for Newtonian liquids or calculate the energy-heating value for gas measurements. https://lnkd.in/g9igscpE #flowmeasurement #Coriolis #processautomation #industrialinnovation #asphalt

A steam trap in a steam system is an important piece of equipment for properly discharging condensate from steam piping. Failure of the steam trap can result in steam blow through or cold, which can cause the following: ・Increased production costs due to decreased energy efficiency ・Decreased production quality due to lower steam temperature ・Steam system failure or shutdown due to water hammer ・Increased energy loss and CO2 emissions due to steam leakage By installing the Wireless Steam Trap Monitoring Device on the piping where a steam trap is already installed, it is possible to detect conditions of steam trap. Prompt maintenance can be performed, which can reduce the risk of steam system failure and improve energy efficiency. https://lnkd.in/gint79mZ #sushisensor #lorawan #steamtrap #yokogawa

The world has seen its fair share of large-scale accidents in recent years. Despite many near-misses, unless major accidents happen some companies continue to claim that their facilities are sound. And no small number of these companies depend on others for monitoring. At many large factories that move coal, pulp chips, and other materials by belt conveyor, worker monitoring patrols are the main safety net. But people have limits, and they are not all equally skilled. This is risk management by people—replete with uncertainty. With only this level of monitoring, if you take on the critical mission of avoiding accidents that cause unplanned outages and damage to public image, it's only a matter of time before a major accident strikes that devastates the company. A belt conveyor fire detection solution employing the DTSX distributed optical fiber temperature sensor can greatly reduce crises that can threaten a company's survival.
