From our Amazon integration to Tap and Zip, rewards campaigns and instalments, he has contributed to many key projects while advancing to Senior Engineering Manager and now Engineering Director. He has played a pivotal role in modernising key systems, reducing tech debt and enhancing our core functionalities along the way. Tolga attributes his career growth at Zip to the many opportunities he has had to own and stretch himself. The autonomy and implicit trust at Zip have made him feel like an integral part of the business. The month of May saw US Zipster Saba Teklu celebrate her third Zipsterversay. Saba, a Software Engineer on the Decisioning Engineering team, says the trifecta of mentorship, collaboration, and knowledge transfer from Zipsters has enabled her to build her career at Zip Speed. “I am on a team of leaders with a depth of technical experience and a true sense of ownership of the Zip product. I’ve been given the opportunity to take the lead and own a feature from inception to completion. From early on here, I’ve been trusted and supported to implement features that are still in use today, including amongst other things integration with new machine learning models. I’m excited about my next chapter with Zip given the endless potential I see in an industry that continues to grow exponentially. Last week four of our fearless Sydney-based Zipsters stepped away from their desks to take on the infamous Salesforce Stairclimb, raising funds for nonprofit Miracle Babies Foundation. The 53-storey climb up Salesforce Tower, Sydney’s tallest building and also home to our Australian HQ, took the Zip team just 19 minutes - talk about Zip Speed! Over 150 other employees based at Sydney Place also completed the challenge. Leading the way is Associate Director, Delivery Dan who puts his growth as a Zipster down to exposure to world-class leaders and taking on new and interesting challenges. “Thinking back over the last three to four years, we've gone from what you might call a startup culture to more of a scale-up culture. That said, we try to keep the decision making as fast as possible. There's not this massive layer of bureaucracy around everything that we do, and with fewer layers to navigate, Zipsters really get the chance to present their point of view. And we still want to take some risks, but it's calculated risk. So that in itself creates opportunities for growth.
