Chevron Australia has boosted production capacity at the Wheatstone domestic gas facility for the second year in a row. The production capacity of Wheatstone’s domgas plant has officially increased from 215 terajoules per day to 230 terajoules per day, building on the 10 terajoule per day boost achieved in 2023. Wheatstone now has the capacity to produce around 12 per cent more domestic gas than it could just two years ago. The combined capacity of the Chevron-operated Gorgon and Wheatstone domgas facilities is now 530 terajoules per day – almost half of Western Australia’s daily domestic gas supply. We’re proud to be playing an important role in helping meet the energy needs of our communities and customers. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gK_kktcP

Chevron Australia 2023 tax payment tops A$3.5 billion It’s that time of year… and like millions of Australian individuals and businesses will do, we’ve just filed our annual tax return. We report our revenue and income to the ATO on a calendar year basis and for 2023, our income tax bill was A$3.5 billion, making us one of Australia’s top income taxpayers. Combining this recent bill with the A$4.2 billion in company income tax we paid for 2022, in just two short years our income tax payments have exceeded A$7.7 billion. It’s a significant contribution and one we’re proud of making. By paying our fair share of tax, we’re helping the Australian Government pay for the things that matter, like healthcare, cost of living relief, and supporting those in our community who need it most. Like most businesses, we can’t predict the exact amount of tax we’ll pay in the future, but we look forward to continuing our significant contribution to the Australian economy for decades to come.

Our vision for reconciliation, is an Australia where Aboriginal people participate and benefit from the social and economic opportunities created by developing energy that improves lives and powers the world forward. Yesterday we hosted a group of enthusiastic students and their dedicated mentors from the Stars Foundation - Australia at our Perth headquarters, to celebrate the extension of our partnership and learn about career pathways in the energy industry. Gorgon Production Manager, Ian Downey emphasised the significance of the partnership extension in collaboration with the Gorgon Joint Venture partners, and our shared commitment to empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women across Perth and the Pilbara region.  “We are proud to continue supporting Stars Foundation in their mission to empower Indigenous girls. This is the #HumanEnergy of the Pilbara! On Sunday, community members from Karratha and its surrounds came together at the 2024 Chevron City to Surf for Activ, to raise awareness and the vital funds that enable Activ Foundation to support better outcomes for West Aussies living with disability. Following the Karratha event, Managing Counsel and Team Chevron Captain, Peter McNally reflected on the significance and impact of our longstanding partnership with Activ Foundation since 2010. "It was a proud moment seeing my Team Chevron colleagues participate and witness the amazing spirit and diversity of the Karratha community who came down to support Sunday's event. "The Chevron City to Surf for Activ holds the record as our largest workforce participation event and I truly believe this demonstrates the power of Chevron's commitment to diversity and inclusion. "We believe people with disabilities should have the same opportunities to participate and contribute to their communities as everyone else – that is exactly what this event is about." Last week, General Manager Energy Transition David Fallon joined government officials and industry leaders at the Carbon Capture Asia Pacific Conference held in Melbourne, Victoria. During the conference, Dave shared insights into Chevron Australia’s energy transition strategy, including the optimisation work underway on the world's largest dedicated Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) system at our Gorgon operations in Western Australia. "It's great to see strong representation from across the region and our industry, who have come together today to share knowledge and collaborate on the many technologies that will be needed to deliver a future of energy that is affordable, reliable and ever-cleaner across the Australian economy and beyond. "CCS is an important emission reduction tool in this toolbox; and it works. "I'm proud of the work our teams on the ground have done to store more than 9.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide to date, and I'm equally proud to work with the best and brightest dedicated to optimising the Gorgon CCS technology."
