Team members from the department’s Resource and Environmental Compliance (REC) Division joined regulatory bodies from across South Australia, Northern Territory, and the Commonwealth at the 2024 AELERT Regulators Event in Darwin recently. REC Executive Director Tyler Sujdovic said the event was a great opportunity for Australian regulators to come together and for his team to build connections, learn from others, as well as share their own knowledge and perspectives. “There was a lot of focus on understanding the social considerations surrounding resource project development and the role regulators’ play in facilitating responsible development,” he said. “The team and I came away with valuable insights, practical tools, and some ideas around interjurisdictional collaboration after workshopping the challenges and opportunities it presents.” Here's a group photo of some of the team members that attended 📸 For more about the event 👉 https://ow.ly/F23M50QBzCS

That’s a wrap! Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA) has completed the data acquisition phase of a geoscientific investigation into the structure of the Earth’s crust in WA’s southwest. The program involved 1200km of deep crustal seismic surveys along public roads, recording data which will create images of the crust up to 50 km deep. The survey data is expected to be publicly available by July 2024. To learn more about the program or subscribe to receive notice of the release of the data, visit https://ow.ly/ywWc50QxKzI.

DEMIRS Resources WA reposted this
We are now DEMIRS. From today, 1 December 2023, our department name will now be the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. The addition of “Energy” better reflects the importance of Western Australia’s energy portfolio and the critical role it will play in our State’s decarbonisation ambitions. This change does not affect our regulatory or operational functions – we will continue to support a safe, fair, and responsible community, industry, energy and resources sector.
