    Why I Choose to Be a Servant Leader and Volunteer for YPO Leadership is not about titles, ego or authority. (Hopefully that statement isn’t new to you….) It’s about service. For me, being a servant leader means putting others first, fostering growth, and creating meaningful impact. This philosophy is why I dedicate my time and energy to volunteering for roles within YPO. YPO is more than a network; it’s a community of leaders united by a shared commitment to learning, collaboration, and transformation. Volunteering here gives us the opportunity to serve alongside exceptional individuals who inspire me daily. Whether it’s organizing impactful events, mentoring emerging leaders, or helping navigate complex challenges, every moment spent in service reinforces the values I hold dear. We strive to lead by example, listen with intention, and create spaces where everyone feels empowered to thrive. The rewards are immeasurable—personal growth, lifelong connections, and the privilege of contributing to something greater than ourselves.     My Journey in YPO - An Immensely Rewarding Experience In 2023, my husband and I made the great decision to join YPO. I couldn’t have been more excited. Having heard nothing but positive feedback about the organisation, I was eager to experience it firsthand. What I didn’t expect was how quickly the opportunities would come. Shortly after joining, I was offered the role of forum moderator for a new brand partner forum. While surprised, I was also excited by the challenge, and without hesitation, I accepted. As I reflect on the almost two years since our forum’s inception, I can confidently say this journey has been nothing short of transformative. If I had to sum it up in two words, it would be: Positively Challenging and Deeply Rewarding. Positively Challenging   I have always believed in leading by example and inspiring others to reach their fullest potential. Acting beyond what’s comfortable has being the bridge to achieve personal and professional transformation What I’ve found in YPO is an incredibly supportive environment where I can challenge myself and others, knowing that we are all committed to mutual growth. Deeply Rewarding The rewards have been tangible. Being a moderator has helped me to expand my leadership skills and impact.  It has helped me to become more self-aware, and I’ve learned to track my goals and progress in relation to my main life pillars (personal, professional, family and community). Each session feels like a mini “board meeting” with my personal advisory group - a powerful reminder that we don’t have to navigate our journeys alone. I have been given the space to be creative, to shape my future with purpose, and to receive feedback that helps me stay aligned with my goals and values. There is a profound sense of fulfilment that comes from knowing that the work I’m doing today will pay dividends for years to come - not just for me, but for my forum peers. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute, learn, and evolve alongside such an extraordinary group of people, who push me to think bigger, act bolder, and continuously evolve.
