The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre(CCCCC), through its 3R-CReWS Barbados project funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and members from the Barbados Water Authority recently conducted a site visit at the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant. Leading the visit was Mr. Tyrone Lowe - Superintendent of Works in the Wastewater section, who provided an in-depth analysis of the ongoing Upgrading of the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant project. Mr. Lowe explained that the primary objective of the project is to repurpose the effluent produced for agricultural and other non-domestic uses. This initiative is a significant step toward enhancing the sustainability of Barbados' water system, ensuring more water is available for non-potable purposes and helping to alleviate the island's water scarcity challenges. The CCCCC's involvement in this project underscores its commitment to building the country's resilience to climate change by supporting sustainable water management practices. Residents interested in learning more about this transformative project are encouraged to participate in the tours offered by the Barbados Water Authority, which provide a firsthand look at the improvements being made to ensure a more resilient and sustainable water supply for Barbados. #3R-CReWSBarbados #Climatesustainability #SewageTreatmentPlant

On the Morning Barbados show this morning, Dr. Elon Cadogan, National Project Coordinator at the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), and Mr. Derek Baird, Principal Consultant, discussed the ongoing Upgrade of the Bridgetown Sewage Treatment Plant in detail. They explained the project goals and highlighted the important role of the 3R-CreWS project in carrying out these upgrades, which are focused on reducing, reusing, and recycling wastewater to improve environmental sustainability. In addition to discussing the technical aspects, Dr. Cadogan and Mr. Baird encouraged community participation in the three-day Public Consultation on Preliminary Design Report for the Upgrade of the Sewage Treatment Plant. The final session continues on Wednesday, August 28th, at the Calvary Moravian Church. This provides a great opportunity for residents to directly engage with the project team, gain a deeper understanding of the proposed improvements, and share their feedback. Your input is valuable in shaping the future of Bridgetown’s sewage treatment infrastructure.

On a recent pre-bid site visit to the Belle Plantation Site, The CCCCC's Barbados Team (3R-CReWS), accompanied by potential bidders, evaluated the proposed location for installing a 1MW photovoltaic (PV) system. The primary objective of this visit was to acquaint potential bidders with the site's conditions, logistical considerations, and technical requirements necessary for the PV system. Anthony Franklin from the Barbados Water Authority led the visit, providing a detailed overview of the site and its geographical and existing infrastructure. 3R-CReWS Barbados played a pivotal role in facilitating this visit. They addressed queries from potential bidders and outlined the environmental and operational benefits of the project. This collaborative effort ensured a comprehensive understanding of the project expectations, requirements, and challenges, paving the way for information and competitive bidding. #3RCReWSBarbados #Sustainabledevelopment

Today, the 3R-CReWS team joined the BWA's Water Conservation Team at the YMCA’s Kids Summer Camp as part of their holiday engagement summer camp. With over 50 campers in attendance, the session began with interactive activities, teaching the best practices for using water wisely. Through engaging discussions and hands-on demonstrations, the children learned about the significance of water conservation and their vital role in protecting the environment. Subsequently, the 3R-CReWS team distributed water conservation flyers to each camper. These flyers provided valuable information and practical tips, encouraging the campers to share their newfound knowledge with their families and communities. #3RCReWSBarbados #waterconservation #summercamp
