About us

A2M is an international practice driven by an ardent belief in the possibilities of modern architecture and a keen curiosity about building physics, our interdisciplinary team shapes A2M’s prospective vision of a sustainable future for our built environment. Since its founding in 2000, A2M has dedicated itself towards making our world more livable by championing quality, contemporary architecture while maintaining high environmental standards. Because of our expertise in constructing zero-energy and carbon-neutral buildings, we became a lead policy consultant for the Brussels regional government. The firm largely contributed in making Brussels the first city in the world to implement Passive House standards into the city's Code. Our team of architects and engineers stands out by giving high-quality, environmentally-conscious training to architects, engineers and builders, while publishing our lessons learned from our projects throughout Europe, Africa and USA (M2A). Although all A2M's projects achieve passive house performance (and for some also Net Zero Energy, Carbon Neutral, Exemplary Building, or Breeam) most are priced at an equivalent or lower price than standard market. A2M's trade mark is to achieve better quality for a standard price. A2M's team is composed of architects, engineer architects and thermal engineers. All trained specifically in different aspects of sustainable development, passive design, natural light analysis as well as dynamic simulation. These skills gathered under one roof enable us to combine the economic with the exemplary dimensions in each of our projects. - all A2M's projects are Passive House and/or Net Zero Energy - 3 offices: A2M Brussels | A2M Lisbon | M2A NYC - 19 Exemplary Building awards - 4 Breeam buildings - 1 MIPIM award

The WELL certification stands out for its unique focus on occupant well-being, going beyond environmental considerations. Here's how:   💧🔌 While also addressing environmental concerns, the core of WELL lies in enhancing the quality of life for occupants. By emphasizing assessments categories such as 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱 and 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, WELL certification ensures buildings contribute positively to the 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 and 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 of their users.   🌿🌍 By advocating for construction and operational practices that prioritize health and well-being, the WELL certification fosters the development of buildings that not only sustain the environment but also nurture the individuals within them. It delves into comprehensive assessments, including air quality, water purity, lighting, soundscapes, and thermal comfort, ensuring spaces that promote optimal human health. 📈💼 As part of the WELL certification process, with assessments ranging from 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗲 to 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘂𝗺 levels, ambitious sustainability goals can be achieved, encompassing energy efficiency, building sustainability, and occupant comfort. At DUSS, we specialize in 𝗺𝗮𝘅𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 within the WELL certification spectrum, collaborating closely with professionals such as M&E engineers, architects, acousticians, and more. Together, we aim to create environments that prioritize human health and wellness.   For instance, in the Marnix project, initiated by our client ING Belgium, we are aiming to achieve the 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗺 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲 with the assistance of the entire team that we would like to thank :   Client: ING Belgium Contractor: Louis De Waele Architect: A2M Architecture Interior Architect: Moreno Architecture Acoustician: D2S International   And did you know we also certified this project BREEAM? More about BREEAM certified projects in an upcoming post!   #WELLCertification #Sustainability #Environment #WellnessAtWork #DUSS

ARQUITETO CONVIDA | WELLBE Lisboa, Portugal 🇬🇧 This month, Arquiteto Convida took us to Parque das Nações to visit our WellBe project - a collaboration with A2M Architecture. This initiative which allows S+A employees to get to know the practice’s projects, was guided by Tiago Sallas who had the opportunity to address significant issues in the construction of these 3 smart buildings connected between them with the main focus on sustainability. Focused on training and quality, S+A awakens and encourages curiosity by sharpening their employee’s attention. #saraivaeassociados #architecture #arquitetura #smartbuildings #edificiosinteligentes #training #learning #experience #lisboa #portugal

A glimpse of the EU New European Bauhaus: Our world is in a state of emergency! We all failed to prevent climate change, let’s succeed in mitigating it. Sebastian Moreno-Vacca presented how a new narrative in architecture as regenerative design can heal what’s left. Thank you Paperjam for the invitation. https://lnkd.in/eFwWhDGJ #healcampus #effekt #regenerativearchitecture #IA #parametricdesign #CO2neutral #EUneweuropeanbauhaus

Thank you to our client Matexi for the post. Indeed, the urban planning permit has been issued for this project, which is passive standard, CO2 neutral, and circular, and it is an exemplary renovation of a former office building into residential units. 👷♂️ #TogetherWeCreateGreatPlaces
