A pleasure to participate to Athens International Airport’s annual Airline Marketing Event today along with Ourania Georgoutsakou | Airlines for Europe (A4E) and many of her member airlines. As always, I am impressed at how our airport members engage and support airlines to retain their business and develop connectivity for their communities. Airports have become the leaders of ´destination management’, involving all relevant local stakeholders - and the #AthensNow campaign launched by Ioanna Papadopoulou and her fantastic team is a very fine example of that. In the end, all this is indeed airport competition in action - and these efforts and the strategies that underpin them are still too often ignored by our regulators and policy makers… Last but not least, I was thrilled and honoured to be the recipient of the 2025 ´I am an Athenian Too’ award and to receive it from Yiannis Paraschis, CEO of Athens International Airport 🙏

[NEWS] First glimpse of air traffic performance in Europe for 2025! The ACI EUROPE Airport Traffic Report for January 2025 reveals a +6.9% increase in passenger traffic compared to last year – showcasing continued resilience in demand for air travel. This week, the ACI EUROPE Airport Operations Centre (APOC) Exchange event was held in the EUROCONTROL headquarters in Brussels, co-hosted by the Performance Review Commission (PRC).  63 APOC Managers across 34 airports were able to come together, and for the first time, discuss their challenges and share best practices.
