👍 Thumbs up! Vorige week hielden we i.s.m. Hogeschool VIVES een testvlucht met een drone. In het kader van het MEDROS-project werden fictieve bloedstalen vanuit een WZC in Bellegem over een afstand van 4 km tot bij ons in az groeninge gebracht. De vlucht duurde in totaal 5 minuten. 📍 Het is de eerste keer dat een drone in de geozone van de luchthaven Kortrijk-Wevelgem buiten het zichtbereik van de piloot heeft gevlogen zonder dat het andere luchtverkeer daarvoor werd onderbroken. In een baanbrekende testvlucht heeft een drone met succes een traject van 4 km afgelegd tussen het Woonzorgcentrum De Zon in Bellegem, beheerd door Zorg Kortrijk, en het az groeningee in Kortrijk. Deze vlucht, uitgevoerd buiten het zichtbereik van de piloot, markeert een belangrijke mijlpaal in het TETRA-project 'Medical Drone Supplies' (MEDROS), onder leiding van Hogeschool VIVES. 💬 "We zijn zeer tevreden met de resultaten van deze testvlucht," zegt Joke Van Vooren, Docent en Projectmedewerker Luchtvaart bij VIVES University of Applied Sciences. "Het toont aan dat drones een waardevolle aanvulling kunnen zijn op onze huidige transportmethoden, vooral in noodsituaties waar snelheid cruciaal is. ADLC successfully completed a groundbreaking BVLOS medical drone flight between a Residential Care Center and az groeninge hospital, marking a significant achievement for the MEDROS project by VIVES University of Applied Sciences. 🏥 🔬 The operation’s safety was ensured by SkeyDrone's BVLOS framework, and the drone was operated fully automatically from our Operations Control Room. The operation of offshore wind farms is not only a technical challenge, but also a logistical one. Wind farm operator EnBW and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) wanted to find out to what extent #drones can be integrated into their supply - and called for participation in the Offshore Drone Challenge.   A total of 13 teams applied, four of which were given the opportunity to compete in the final at the National Test Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems in Cochstedt. The task set was to complete the individual phases of material transportation to an #offshore wind farm in a multi-stage course: From the launch of the drone to the precise placement of the payload. In the end, ADLC (A Drone Logistics Company) from Belgium impressed the jury the most with its overall concept and came out on top against the teams from Flowcopter (Scotland), Solectric (Germany) and Stromkind (Austria).   We would like to congratulate all participants on the successful competition and thank them for the intensive work that has been done to uncover important insights for #UAS operations in the context of offshore wind farms. Special congratulations also go to UAV DACH member Phoenix-Wings GmbH, whose PW.Orca cargo drone played a key role in ADLC's winning overall concept.

Can drones supply #windfarms on the high seas with material? The DLR Institute of Flight Systems (DLR Institut für Flugsystemtechnik), in collaboration with EnBW, is investigating this in the project "Upcoming Drones Windfarm" project and organized the Offshore Drone Challenge at Nationales Erprobungszentrum für Unbemannte Luftfahrtsysteme, which is located at the Magdeburg-Cochstedt airfield. International #drone companies such as ADLC, Flowcopter LTD, Solectric GmbH and Stromkind demonstrated what their #drones can already do today. Sebastian Cain from the DLR Institute of Flight Systems elaborated the challenge: "The companies did a great job of mastering the load #transport mission - from picking up the payload to flying precise flight manoeuvres such as hovering under different wind directions and setting down the load with precision. We saw a high proportion of automatically flown manoeuvres." We congratulate the ADLC participants who, with the "Orca" drone from Phoenix-Wings GmbH, performed the flight tasks the best. The Upcoming Drones Windfarm project is funded by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection).

Last month, together with SGS, we launched our new service to transport dangerous goods by autonomous drones beyond visual line of sight of the pilot. 🗞 Last week saw the launch of a new drone transport service in the Port of Antwerp, providing swift transportation of petrochemical analysis samples from the port to the laboratory. This new solution, SAMPLIFLY, is a collaboration between ADLC (A Drone Logistics Company), SGS, a global leader in testing, inspection and certification and BASF Antwerpen NV and is the result of a Demonstration Project developed under the European Space Agency - ESA’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) programme. The successful autonomous drone flight is the first of its kind to have been carried out in Europe. Arnaud RUNGE, lead technical officer from ESA on the SAMPLIFLY project said, “We are delighted with the success of SAMPLIFLY’S first flight this week.
