Our Vision for a Healthier and More Sustainable Future is Here! 🌍🍊 AIJN is thrilled to unveil its “Vision for a Healthy and Sustainable Future.”  This comprehensive framework sets out a strategic direction for the fruit juice industry, emphasizing commitment in health and environmental sustainability. Key Highlights: 🔹 President’s Call for Collective Action: AIJN President Javier Lorenzo Benavides emphasizes the important role of the fruit juice sector in the global food value chain. He emphasizes the need to support SMEs and adapt agricultural practices to climate change, ensuring sustainable production while balancing industry competitiveness with consumer well-being and environmental sustainability. 🔹 Health and Nutrition: With only 12% of people meeting the recommended fruit and vegetable intake, some 100% fruit juice provides essential nutrients like vitamin C and potassium, without added sugars. We are introducing reduced-sugar options to meet health-conscious demands while retaining all the benefits of 100% fruit juice. 🔹 Sustainability Commitment: We are dedicated to environmentally responsible practices, including reducing food waste, innovating with recyclable packaging, and improving energy efficiency. Our Technical Officer, Christina Charmpi, is back from Berlin where she had a productive and engaging meeting with the COPEG expert group, dedicated to delivering science and data-based expert opinions on technical issues related to fruit and vegetable juices and nectars. 🍊 As part of our biannual meetings, this session was marked by a full and dynamic agenda, covering crucial discussions on revising existing COPEG guidelines and creating new ones. We appreciate the active participation and constructive contributions from all members. Special thanks to COPEG Chair John Collins for guiding the discussions effectively. We also want to extend a warm welcome to our new Vice-Chairs, Achim Gessler and David Hammond, who have stepped into their roles. Their expertise will be invaluable as we continue to advance our objectives. 👏 A big thank you to peter spaargaren for his past contributions, and best wishes to him in his future endeavors.
