🌟 What an incredible event hosted last week by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) on #food and #enzymes!   AMFEP was privileged to be part of the conversation, with our Secretary General, Céline Benini (PhD) Benini, invited to represent us in this critical discussion. Special thanks to Yi Liu, her team, and all EFSA colleagues who organized such a successful event, as well as to Dr. Valeriu Curtui for supporting this collaboration. We're grateful for the open and positive discussions, which exemplify the kind of partnership our collaborative industry seeks with agencies and authorities.   With over 100 participants joining both in person and online, the turnout reaffirmed the high level of interest in enzymes and their role in advancing innovation and sustainability! 💪   AMFEP was proud to present our journey with food enzyme dossiers, underscoring our commitment to precision fermentation, safety, and sustainable progress.   #AMFEP #fermentation #safety #sustainability #biotechnology #enzymes #innovation

What an amazing event organized by European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) on #food #enzymes 🤩 Thanks again to Yi Liu, her team but also all the EFSA colleagues involved in the organisation of this event. And thanks to Dr Valeriu Curtui to make it possible! Thanks for listening to AMFEP, thanks for the very honest and open dialogue, always in a positive spirit 🤝🏻. As said in many occasions, this is how our industry see collaboration with agencies and authorities. More than 200 in-person and online participants joined us for this meeting. What a success! Just proving if still needed that enzymes are more than ever on top of everyone’s interest 💪🏻 What a chance it was for me to present #AMFEP experience with the food enzymes dossiers journey! #precisionfermentation #fermentation #safety #sustainability #biotechnology #extraction #microorganisms #plants #animals

  • AMFEP and EuropaBio - the European Association for Bioindustries organized an invitation-only roundtable at EuropaBio offices in Brussels on 18 March 2025, bringing together key industry and policy stakeholders to discuss the future of the enzyme industry in Europe.   🔹 How are enzymes pivotal to a competitive and robust EU biotechnology sector? 🔹 How do they encourage innovation and sustainability in different industries? 🔹 What will be the direction of policy for the future mandate of the EU?   The discussion focused on how the enzyme industry can support the biotechnology ambitions of Europe as well as its competitiveness. We really do want to thank the industry leaders and experts for joining us.   #Biotechnology #Enzymes #Sustainability #Innovation #EUIndustry #Policy #AMFEP #EuropaBio Ana Rivas Valero Jakub Rusek Claire Skentelbery Lucie McMurtry Dr Anne-Gaelle Collot

  • AMFEP is actively having key discussions with policymakers, with enzymes being a strategy pillar for the future of biotechnology and biomanufacturing. 🔬🌍 On the 6th March, during the ITRE Committee hearing with the European Commission, we were pleased to see that enzymes were identified as a key driver in the opportunities and challenges for the industry. In this hearing, MEP Hildegard Bentele asked for: 📌 Simplification and market access, together with ensuring feedstock availability 📌 Support for innovation with assurances of safety and sustainability 📌 A clear leadership role in the European Commission for biotechnology and biomanufacturing This is particularly timely as the EU moves towards the Biotechnology Act and the updated Bioeconomy Strategy. As AMFEP, we will continue to advocate for a regulatory framework that supports enzyme innovation, with Europe as the global leader in sustainable biotechnology. #Biotechnology #Biomanufacturing #Enzymes #Innovation #EURegulation #Sustainability #AMFEP

  • 🤝 Connecting across the ocean 🌍🌊   During his visit to the U.S., Jakub Rusek, Secretary General of AMFEP, met with Ann Begley, Secretary and General Counsel of ENZYME TECHNICAL ASSOCIATION, to strengthen the partnership between our organisations. AMFEP and ETA share a joint commitment in fostering enzyme innovation, safety, and best practices across the industry. We are happy to work together to ensure a global approach to enzyme-related challenges and opportunities. These transatlantic exchanges reinforce our mission and create valuable synergies for the enzyme sector.   #Enzymes #Collaboration #GlobalPartnership #AMFEP #ETA

Earlier this week, the AMFEP Secretariat – represented by Ana Rivas Valero and Maxime Castes, together with our members IFFAna Maria Bravo-Angel – and NovonesisRie Tsuchiya –, had a productive exchange at the European Commission on the Sustainable and Safe by Design framework 🧪🔬.   Enzymes are biological catalysts known for their sustainability and safe use, a fact already recognized in the EU Ecolabel. Did you know that EU Ecolabel detergents contain enzymes that make your laundry both cleaner and more climate-friendly 👚♻️✨?   This recognition was also visible at premises in Brussels of the Directorate-General Research and Innovation (DG RTD), where banners and EU Ecolabel products – including enzyme-powered detergents – were showcased in their entrance, reinforcing the Commission’s commitment to sustainable solutions 📸.   🔎 Want to learn more about the power of enzymes? Drop us a message, and we’ll walk you through their fascinating world 🌍!
