𝐋𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭 𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 Did you know that the precursor to the modern internet, ARPANET, saw its first message sent on October 29, 1969? This moment marked the beginning of the internet era 🌐 We must learn how to use the internet effectively since it is a gift and a tool that can bring people together. These days, it is important to stay safe on the internet, so let's examine some secure ways for us to interact and communicate online: • The padlock icon to the left of the website's URL is a crucial indicator to look for when exploring the internet. This indicates that the HTTPS protocol is being used by the web browser to encrypt the data being transferred from your device to the website, making it impossible for third parties to access the data. • Using an ad-blocker is another way to keep safe. This will lessen the quantity of advertisements you view online, which are frequently used as a platform for malware attacks. • Bookmark websites you frequently visit to avoid typosquatting. This ensures you will be taken back to the legitimate website and not a slightly different URL that a scammer has registered to trick people. • To prevent scammers from taking advantage of you, learn how to spot scams and be aware of the most typical types of scams. Phishing, romance, identity theft, investing, extortion, and other frauds are among them. • Make sure you are using a secure wi-fi connection whenever you browse the internet. This entails setting up a private connection at home and only utilizing public wifi when required for specific tasks—never for online banking or chores requiring the entry of personal data. • Watch who you put your faith in online. You can connect with many people you already know through it, but you should be cautious around strangers. • Make sure you are using a secure wi-fi connection whenever you browse the internet. This entails setting up a private connection at home and only utilizing public wifi when required for specific tasks—never for online banking or chores requiring the entry of nd strangers. All of your internet accounts should have strong, one-of-a-kind passwords. • Learn to skim privacy policies for key pieces of information so that you know what you’re agreeing to. • Manage your online reputation and digital footprint well. 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝟏𝟏 𝟐𝟒 𝐇𝟐 - 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 Microsoft's latest update for Windows 11 includes a feature called "Recall" that you might want to disable. The Recall AI feature creates a snapshot every 5 seconds that can then be retrieved later for eg: restoring previously written texts and much more. The first version of Recall was never released on the preview channel or to windows insiders. It was developed in secret and was ‘released’ as part of the CoPilot PC launch. Before this took place, it was sent for review to outside 3rd parties; and it was then that many concerns against it were raised. The Recall feature is being deployed to every 24h2 update on every system (including LTSC & enterprise versions) Strangely enough in the beginning of September uninstalling Recall was not supposed to be integrated into Windows 11 24H2, but was going to come later. Therefore the option to remove it from the installed features, has now been removed again. If however you still want to disable these 'recall' recordings, you can go to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Retrieval and Snapshots and then flipping the 'save snapshots' to OFF. on a global level, you can off course also use a GPO: User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows AI -> In the right side panel, double-click on "Disable Windows snapshot storage" and choose 'Enabled' so that Snapshots will be disabled. OR: type the following command as an admin user: Dism /Online /Disable-Feature /Featurename:Recall and/or push this out via your favorite RMM solution. Other sources say that the Recall Feature is a must have to get the new Windows 11 file explorer, this is however not officially confirmed yet! If you are worried about the Privacy of the Recall feature, checkout: https://lnkd.in/eHb8_tSe If you want to have a good overview of all the Windows 24h2 news, checkout: https://lnkd.in/eeAMEHSj The fastest way to get windows 11 24h2 is to download the iso and to upgrade it in-place. Alternatively, you will need to wait for the phased rollout to come via windows update to get it on your system(s) #torecallornottorecall

𝗪10 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 Are you still running Windows 10? On October 14, 2025 the extended support for windows 10 will end. (𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸, 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘴 10 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘖𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘣𝘦𝘳 13, 2020) After this date, Windows 10 will no longer receive feature / quality updates, which could leave systems vulnerable to new threats. In addition, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support for it. The exception to the above date is Windows 10 LTSC 2021, which will continue to receive regular support until 12/1/2027 (𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘴 10 𝘓𝘛𝘚𝘊 2019 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘰𝘯 9/1/2019) So it is wise to begin investigating the upgrade path to windows 11 prior to 14/10/2025. Another reason to do the upgrade is to prevent that Teams may stop working.... did you know: "The Teams desktop client needs to be under a supported OS version. This is to ensure that users have the latest updates, capabilities, performance enhancements, security features, and service compatibility. A version that is too far out of date will become incompatible with the service and the Desktop client will be blocked until the OS is updated." Unclear which devices are affected in your environment? With the help of Lansweeper, you can quickly get an overview and build your action plan forward. RIP Wordpad 🪦 After 28 Years, Microsoft has retired Wordpad in its latest version of Windows 11 build 24H2 and Server 2025. It was Windows 95, remember? that first offered the free richtext formatting application. Microsoft eliminates numerous outdated features and functionalities to create a more efficient OS and provide room for new things. Hence their statement that you should open plain text documents with notepad and rich text documents with Word. So Long, dear Wordpad #softwaredeprecation #endofanera #wordpad
