  • A few weeks ago, we published our 2023 Annual and Sustainability Report. A voluminous document of more than 200 pages that describes not only our financial results, but also our business successes, our strategic projects, our sustainability initiatives and the results of our 2030 ambition. Because we consider it important to be transparent, because we want to involve all our employees in global projects and successes, we have created a derived brochure for every employee worldwide in their own language. In our employee booklet “2023: an overview of a B.I.G. Year” we highlight both the top 10 business and the sustainability achievements that we reached together in 2023. 📖 Only when everyone knows what we stand for as a company and what we want to go for, can we achieve our goals together! Curious about the full annual report? Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/eWvikEfT Let’s keep on shaping sustainable living, together!

  • We are proud to introduce Elevate, our new portfolio under which all our circular polypropylene (PP) solutions will be launched! The Elevate solutions enable our partners to reduce their environmental impact by diverting plastics and other materials from landfills and incinerators through various forms of recycling, all without compromising on quality. Our Elevate portfolio is divided into three distinct subcategories, each representing a different form of a recycling process: - Elevate Exist – bio-attributed polypropylene - Elevate Extract – chemically recycled polypropylene - Elevate Extend – mechanically recycled polypropylene. These new solutions are a significant step towards a more sustainable future. Our polypropylene manufacturers, Pinnacle Polymers and Polychim industrie SAS , offer our partners the opportunity to improve their environmental performance without sacrificing the quality of their products. By rethinking waste and leveraging innovative recycling techniques, Elevate positions our partners at the forefront of sustainable manufacturing. 🚮🌿 Let’s shape sustainable living, together!

An exciting new chapter in our Route 2030 journey has begun! Construction of two wind turbines has started at our site in Kruisem, Belgium. Together, these turbines will produce as much as 35-40% of our site's electricity consumption. This is a significant step forward in reducing our local ecological footprint. Here are some interesting facts about these wind turbines: 💨 Each turbine has a maximum tip height of 200 meters; 💨 Each turbine has a capacity of 4.2 MW; 💨 According to ENGIE Belgium the turbines are expected to generate enough energy for the equivalent of more than 6000 households every year (https://lnkd.in/gZdeg7Gt); 💨 Expected completion date: May 2025. Curious about how the construction is progressing? Take a quick look at how the first phase of the project has unfolded! Let’s shape sustainable living, together!

At B.I.G., we're committed to making a difference—not just through our sustainable and innovative solutions, but also by giving back to society. In our yearly employee magazine, the ONE Magazine, we hid a Golden Ticket at each site in true Willy Wonka style. The lucky winners of these tickets had the chance to donate €500 to a charity of their choice! This initiative has enabled us to support numerous local charities near our B.I.G. sites. From our division in Shanghai supporting the Hanhong Love Charity Foundation to benefit victims of the Wenchuan earthquake, to our Beauflor US department aiding Hickory Log, a local organization providing a safe haven for men with special needs, and to the Belgian organization Live for Better Days conducting research on brain tumors… We contribute to no less than 36 initiatives across the B.I.G. world! 🌏 And this is what Shaping sustainable living, together is all about!

B.I.G. is leading the change towards a greener future by investing €5 million to transition our Cushion Vinyl production facility in Wielsbeke, Belgium, from fossil energy to biomass-generated steam. This transition signifies a major milestone in our journey towards achieving 'net zero' emissions by 2030. Through collaboration with Aspiravi and A&U Energie, a company specializing in converting non-recyclable wood waste into green energy and heat, we aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our Cushion Vinyl facility by 88% compared to current emissions. ⚡ ♻️ At B.I.G., sustainability isn't just a buzzword – it's a commitment. We're actively increasing the use of recycled materials in our solutions and making strides in our green energy initiatives. All this is part of our participation in the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Recently, our targets were validated as science-based by the organization, officially allowing us to move to the next level of the initiative. The SBTi provides a framework for setting emission reduction targets to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement in alignment with the latest climate science. Every step we take propels us towards achieving our sustainability goals for 2030! Want to know more? Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eczYhrKv

  • Water is vital for all life on the planet. Yet, today, the once-so- plentiful resource is running dry. Next to agriculture and the energy sector, the majority of the world’s water is used by industrial organizations, and B.I.G. is no exception. Responding to this, our Center of Excellence for Water set specific targets for 2024: implementing responsible water management practices, reducing groundwater and municipal water consumption by 20%, and ensuring surface water is discharged back into nature at least as clean as it was. 💧 Want to know where we are today with our water management? Over the past two days, we shared our most innovative projects during our Innovation Days with everyone at B.I.G. who has an interest in innovation! From innovations in our cushion vinyl and hard flooring solutions to advancements in our engineered solutions and the latest developments in our upholstery activities; we covered all progress and challenges. One thing is clear: sustainability is at the core of all our innovative ideas! 💡 ♻️ On the first day, the focus was on knowledge sharing among B.I.G. colleagues. On the second day, we invited external experts to provide an outside-in perspective, giving an extra boost to our innovation efforts and enriching ideas to move to the next stage in our innovation process. We couldn’t have expressed this edition better than Marlies De Bruyn from TVH: “It was particularly enjoyable to participate in this event as an external party and to contribute ideas. I will definitely take this concept with me to TVH!” When Innovation, Sustainability, and Collaboration come together, our purpose - 'Shaping sustainable living, together' - is more alive than ever!
