About us
Bozar, the Centre for Fine Arts’ cultural project, offers a dynamic and diversified cultural programme of concerts and exhibitions: a multidisciplinary approach in which debates, theatre, cinema, literature and other disciplines meet to reflect on the connections between art and society. — The Centre for Fine Arts aims to be a European cultural centre, anchored in the 21st century, with a novel and innovative view of society, a laboratory of ideas attuned to society’s current and future challenges. In the coming decade, Bozar aims to embody change, and contribute to seven major and evolving societal challenges. Sitting atop Coudenberg Hill, monumental and yet discreet, the Brussels Centre for Fine Arts is Belgium’s major cultural venue. In 1913, Queen Elisabeth and King Albert I expressed their desire to build “a temple devoted to Music and the Arts”. Designed by renowned Belgian architect Victor Horta (1861-1947), construction began after the First World War. Upon returning from his stay in the United States, Horta abandoned his flamboyant, industrial Art Nouveau style for the more monumental and geometric language of Art Deco. Inaugurated in 1928, the Centre for Fine Arts is a testimony to this aesthetic revolution. For nearly a century, the centre has hosted the art world’s crème de la crème, and it is where most of Bozar’s cultural and artistic activities are held.

Bozar Archives has recently received a donation of documents and posters from the ‘Lucien De Roeck Fund’ ❤️ In particular, the poster produced by this great Belgian graphic designer for the 25th anniversary of the Palais des Beaux-Arts in 1953. From 1937, Lucien De Roeck worked on the layout of the PBA periodical ‘Les Beaux-Arts’ and ‘Reflets’. He also produced programs, posters and invitations for many of our institution's artistic events. Thank you to #jeanmichelmeyers and the #lucienderoeck Fund for this gift, which will hopefully open the door to future collaborations. Bozar is a space where tomorrow’s leading thinkers and writers engage with today’s most pressing issues. Last monday Lilian Thuram, Rokhaya Diallo, and Kiyémis took the stage in a sold-out Henry Le Bœuf Hall to discuss positive activism and Black Joy. Interviewed by Safia Kessas . Their powerful words resonated with a diverse audience, including the U16 players of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise SCRL, who joined the conversation and reflected on these crucial themes. Join the conversation and explore our upcoming events: https://lnkd.in/e5DHeUu2 And Discover group offers for young people https://lnkd.in/ggD3eVG

Cantania rehearsals are in full swing at Bozar! 🎶 Today, the Henry Le Bœuf Hall came alive with the voices of hundreds of primary school pupils, rehearsing for the much-anticipated Cantania closing concert. After months of preparation in their classrooms, these young singers finally stepped onto the grand stage to bring their songs to life. Accompanied by the Belgian National Orchestra, the children gave it their all, filling the hall with energy, joy, and music. Their dedication — and that of their teachers — is truly inspiring. Save the date: 7 Saturday June 2025 Join us for the grand Cantania concert and witness the magic of these young voices uniting in harmony! More info: bit.ly/4173lUb A heartfelt thank you to our partners for making this project possible: Candriam Institute for Sustainable Development Fondation Les Pen’s, managed by the Fondation Roi Baudouin SFPIM-FPIM Fondation privée FUTUR 21 In collaboration with L'Auditori. Let’s celebrate music education and the incredible work of these children and their teachers! 👏 #MeaningfulPartnerships #BozarBrussels

“The EU is now about to discuss and decide on its future policies affecting culture from 2025 onward, as well as on its multi-annual financial framework for 2028-2034. The existence of these policies and programs carries a fundamental and symbolic message to the rest of the world. For the EU is perhaps the only region that actively supports transnational creations and co-productions, as well as the mobility of artists from all backgrounds, including those in exile.” - Christophe Slagmuylder, CEO and Artistic Director at Bozar 👏 Happy to host the 2025 edition of the Cultural Deal for Europe annual policy conversation! #CulturalDealEU #CultureCompass @glennmicallefmalta @CultureActionEurope @EuropaNostra @EuropeanCulturalFoundation @NelaRiehl @Martacienkowska @EuropeanCommission @EuropeanParliament
