Last month, Carmeuse Brasil attended the Cana 2024 Symposium, an essential event for the dissemination of technical knowledge and updates on new technologies and practices in the sugar-energy sector. Earlier this summer, the Carmeuse Beachville Operation participated in United Way Oxford's "Day of Caring", where local care partners are dispersed throughout the community to complete projects for the great organizations United Way Oxford supports. In an effort to promote digital literacy, Carmeuse Tunisia has invested in the future of education at Hay Mohamed Ali School by providing 8 computers that will be used by eager students aged 5 to 12 years old. Our IT Manager, Malek Adouni, led this project. She ensured that each computer was properly installed. Starting September 2024, we will initiate a series of training courses designed to enhance the digital skills of our students. At Carmeuse, we care about people. Our Maple Grove Operation stepped up to help combat two fires this summer in the nearby rural area by providing local firefighters with an emergency water supply from their water system. In both instances, local emergency teams reached out to the Maple Grove Production Manager requesting permission for the emergency water supply as the plant was the closest water source. Permission was immediately granted and the Maple Grove team went into action by having people stationed at the front gate to direct the emergency vehicles to the on-site pump fed fire hydrant. A total of 102,500 gallons of water was loaded into the fire trucks, helping to put out these fires and to prevent spreading to nearby structures. The installations highlight Carmeuse Systems’ dedication in providing comprehensive lime injection systems and demonstrates SDI’s ongoing leadership in embracing and implementing innovative technologies at its facilities. Made possible through the collaboration of Carmeuse Systems and the Performance Materials business of Schenck Process Food and Performance Materials, which recently rebranded to Coperion, the project combines lime handling, pneumatic conveying, and dense phase lime injection to deliver a complete solution.
