Another reason why we're happy to participate to the European Farmers Congress in Bucharest this week? We're promoting QuantiFarm! QuantiFarm is a unique project that evaluates the impact of Digital Agricultural Technology Solutions (DATSs) across 30 farms in Europe in real-life farming conditions. By comparing farms using digital solutions with those that aren't, QuantiFarm provides valuable insights into the costs, benefits, and sustainability of these innovations. Why is it important to be here with farmers from all over Europe? To spread the word about the 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐭, its powerful features, and the numerous benefits it brings to users! 🔧The QuantiFarm Toolkit offers a powerful suite of tools to help farmers adopt and optimize DATs tailored to their specific needs. It provides user-friendly decision support, enabling farmers to compare solutions and implement them effectively. We at CEMA are glad to be doing our part, together with our project partner COPA COGECA. Join us in driving data-driven farming innovation! 🚜 #Sustainability #DigitalInnovation

CEMA is in Bucharest today! Stefan Top is representing CEMA at the 11th European Farmers Congress, organised by COPA COGECA. In his keynote speech Stefan underlined, as we look into the future of farming, the three key themes that will be crucial in shaping the direction of the industry: Innovation, Sustainability, and Freedom to Farm. We need to leverage #innovation to overcome the challenges facing agriculture, and ensuring that #sustainability goes hand in hand with farm #competitiveness. We want our #farmers to be able to plan for the future in a stable and predictable legislative environment, without too much red tape: set the end goals but let farmers choose the path towards them. The agricultural machinery industry is ready to support farmers in meeting the challenges of today and tomorrow. We've now started the panel discussion on the role of farmers’ #cooperatives, where CEMA is represented alongside César González de Miguel from Euroseeds, Marzia Di Pastina from SAN LIDANO GROUP SRL, Gunilla Aschan from Lantmännen and Kostantinos Giannopoulos from EASTH, moderated by Fotis Filippopoulos, PhD.

At the Barcelona #SynergyDays2024, CEMA had the privilege of taking the stage to delve into #SmartFarming. Our Research Director, Vanja Biševac, moderated a dynamic session featuring Francesco I. from the European Commission’s DG AGRI, Ignacio Ruiz Abad from ANSEMAT, and Filippo Renga from Politecnico di Milano. The discussion was engaging and constructive, with a focus on how smart farming tools and techniques are driving more #sustainable and efficient food systems, and positively impacting the agri-food sector overall. As Filippo Renga emphasized, “We need innovation. We can’t reach economic, environmental, and social sustainability without innovation, and digital innovation is a big part of this. However, to push the adoption of this necessary innovation we must first measure and communicate the benefits in a simple, clear way. Working together is key—we can't face these challenges alone.” Ignacio Ruiz also underscored the need for a balanced approach to innovation, stating, “Historically, our industry has provided innovations that meet farmers’ needs while complying with legislative frameworks. But now, with investment constraints, we need an innovative balance among all stakeholders’ demands to enable the adoption of sustainable technologies. Policies should be redesigned to offer farmers effective, tailored financial support and education on the specific benefits of innovation.” Francesco Iadecola added, “Research and innovation are key to empowering all farmers to benefit from digital and data-based technologies, enabling smarter, more sustainable, and more resilient agriculture.” To create a more sustainable future, innovation and policy must go hand in hand, complementing each other. Continued investment in research and innovation, from the EU down to the local level, is essential. Financial support, such as through the CAP, will empower farmers to adopt cutting-edge equipment and produce more with fewer resources in a greener, more sustainable way. Collaboration among researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers is critical to developing solutions that meet farmers' real-world needs and shaping a brighter future for agriculture, consumers, and our planet.

Holding the yearly chairmanship of the Agri-Food Chain Coalition (#AFCC), CEMA had the honor of hosting yesterday’s networking event, "𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬". It was a chance to bring together the 10 coalition partners, as well as key stakeholders from across the agri-food sector to discuss the future of EU #agriculture. We are at a pivotal moment for the EU institutions, and it’s crucial that the voices of all actors are heard. The members of the Agri-Food Chain Coalition are ready to engage with the institutions, to work towards the common goal of sustaining and enhancing the European Union’s agri-food sector. Members are eager to contribute to the establishment of a European Board for Agriculture and Food (EBAF), helping to shape a vision for EU agriculture that aligns with the realities farmers face, while driving #competitiveness and #innovation in the farming sector. CEMA would like to thank all participants to the event and all the partners who made the evening a success! A special thanks to Elli Tsiforou for her motivating words. A week ago, CEMA, alongside our partners Bayer and European Conservation Agriculture Federation (ECAF), had the pleasure of organizing our Annual Farm Experience at the Beenshoeve farm in Tienen, Belgium. The theme for this year, “𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡! 𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐢𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞”, sparked meaningful discussions on how #sustainable #soil management practices can pave the way for a more resilient agricultural future. During the event, CEMA highlighted the crucial role of agricultural machinery in preserving soil health through practical demonstrations: 🚜 Soil Compaction & Yield Impact: Attendees observed firsthand how varying tyre pressures in tractors can affect soil compaction, directly influencing crop yields. Our practical demonstrations of sugar beet plots clearly showcased the importance of managing soil traffic for healthier soils. 🛠️ Innovative Technologies for Soil Protection: CEMA also demonstrated the benefits of central tyre inflation systems and controlled traffic farming, showing how our advanced machinery helps reduce soil degradation by confining compaction to specific areas and allowing precision operations. The farm visit served as a platform for exchanging ideas on the future of soil sustainability. CEMA remains committed to driving innovation in agricultural machinery, providing practical solutions that enable farmers to maintain and enhance soil health, contributing to a sustainable agricultural ecosystem. We would like to extend a special thank you to CEMA members Mark Moore (AGCO Corporation) who led the preparatory work and the presentation at the CEMA station, and to Gilles Dryancour (John Deere, Chairman of the CEMA Strategic Committee), for his presentation and remarks on CEMA’s approach to Regenerative Agriculture and its role in supporting soil health. A big thank you to our partners Bayer and ECAF, and to all participants for making this event a success! Together, we’re creating solutions that cultivate a healthier planet. 🌍 Lastly, a heartfelt thanks to our fantastic host farmer Philippe Avermaete for welcoming us so warmly and for his great enthusiasm about this project. We hope to see you all again next year!
