The EU institutions' narrative has shifted towards competitiveness. While the first VDL Commission mandate mainly focused on the green agenda, it’s now clear that competitiveness is the new priority. To effectively engage with EU policymakers, organisations must acknowledge and embrace this shift. How? ✅ Position your sector/technology/project as strategic too ✅ Link your priorities to the Draghi report—if it’s in there, it matters! ✅ Frame your message around competitiveness, but don’t lose sight of the core values—competitiveness is a means, not the end. ✅ Use a positive narrative—"also" is the keyword of Draghi’s report. ✅ Adapt sector positioning strategically—borrow approaches when useful, and differentiate when it’s not. Our Public Affairs Director Wouter IJzermans discussed these strategies at the Euractiv Yellow Academy last Friday, exploring how organisations can navigate this evolving landscape.
