CAD initiative supports the development of clearer, more consistent policies on connected and automated driving in EU.
About us
The CAD initiative supports the development of clearer and more consistent policies on connected and automated driving in EU Member States. We capture the expectations and concerns of users, public authorities and providers of technology, infrastructure or mobility services. We foster public-private collaboration and we support the alignment of national action plans, European and international activities in the field of automated driving, towards development and deployment of ART. For this, the ARCADE Coordination and Support Action, which is part of the CAD initiative, offers associated partnership status. Do you represent expert groups or the automated driving industry? Are you an active policy, legal or insurance expert or have you participated in previous research or test field initiatives on automated driving? Then the associate partner status is interesting for you!

🚌 How can automated on-demand services tackle the challenges the public transport sector is facing. Discover the key learnings from the first co-creation workshop of the ULTIMO project with citizens in Herford, Germany. 👇
Automated driving is truly the opportunity of the century, but… …it must be designed with people at its core. Today, I had the privilege of hosting the first co-creation workshop of the ULTIMO project with citizens in Herford. Our goals were clear: listen to and understand the current challenges faced with public transport and brainstorm potential solutions for the automated on-demand service of the future. What did we learn? 📲🚌 There is a clear need for more public transportation options in the suburban areas in Germany and specifically Herford, particularly for more flexible services. Expanding and adapting these services is essential to meet the community’s needs effectively. 🦼 Inclusive mobility goes beyond automated vehicles with ramps. It’s about creating comprehensive solutions that ensure accessibility for everyone within but also outside of the vehicle. 🚌 Security in public transport has always been and will continue to be one of the top priorities. New technologies like AI may enable more cost effective solutions to ensure safety during the ride. Herford is one of three cities in the European ULTIMO project, showcasing automated driving as part of its public transport system. I am thrilled to be involved in this key initiative with so many talented people, striving for a future where technology serves our everyday lives. 🚀🤝 #AutomatedDriving #PublicTransport #Innovation #FutureMobility #CoCreation #UltimoProject #Herford

📢In Dubai, FAME Project coordinator Stephane Dreher discussed about CCAM's use cases and best practices at the ongoing ITS World Congress. Kudos to the speakers of the Special Interest Session 46 for their insightful perspectives, also mentioning the FAME #knowledgebase as the go-to repository of information for CCAM-related data and projects! The FAME project is also featured on the ERTICO - ITS Europe stand (H7-B13), so if in Dubai don't miss the opportunity to come and visit us there. #ccam #automatedmobility #connectedmobility #knowledgesharing
The first two days of the long-awaited #ITSDubai2024 have already gone by. If you missed our projects' presence, here is a snapshot of what has happened so far! ⬇️ 🔴 SINFONICA Project presented two papers on a new methodology to deploy social innovation and on a CCAM taxonomy to capture stakeholders’ needs. 🟣 eBRT2030 project discussed the potential of electric buses to achieve zero emissions in urban transportation, introducing the applicability of a new generation of electric Bus Rapid Transit systems. 🔵 FAME (Connected Automated Driving in Europe) project coordinator Stephane Dreher moderated a panel with experts exploring CCAM cases studies from Europe, Canada and Japan. 🟣 CCAM SUNRISE project results were featured in one of the Research Paper Sessions – the topic discussed was centred around "Which scenarios must be tested for safety in automated driving: To cut testing budget" Stand presentations also started today. Three projects showcased the significance of electrification in the journey towards decarbonisation: eBRT2030 project eCharge4Drivers and the NextETRUCK projects. ADASIS AISBL Coordinator, Jean-Charles Pandazis, introduced the concept of ADAS Horizon and the latest White Paper, recently produced and published by the organisation. The JULIA Project was featured both at the ERTICO Stand (B13 H7) and SIS 26 presenting the potential of EGNNS and Copernicus to enhance Public Transport. We concluded the day with ERTICO-led activities. A first session highlighted City Moonshot’s mission to understand global urban mobility challenges, featuring success stories from Dirección General de Tráfico, the City of Seville, and the SWARCO #GoGreen initiative. The second session introduced the TM 2.0 Innovation Platform Position Paper on the AI act, discussing the use of AI in Traffic Management and the risks and positive uses associated with it. The TN-ITS team led a thought-provoking discussion on trust aspects of mobility data ITS Congresses #decarbonisation #autonomousmobility #TalkingITS

𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: 3rd Motion Comfort Workshop: Exploring the Future of Automated Vehicle Comfort ▶ 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘: https://lnkd.in/eBk4giBG ▶ 06-07 November 2024 - Barcelona, Spain ▶ alongside Tomorrow. Mobility World Congress #TMWC2024 ▶ Physical attendees will receive a TMWC2024 visitor pass, with the option to upgrade to full congress access at a 25% discount! Automated vehicles (AVs) are considered one of the major technological developments in the automotive industry, able to enhance future mobility, by improving safety, environmental impact, and accessibility. The ability to engage in non-driving tasks is considered by consumers one of the key reasons for AVs adoption leading to the requirement of higher comfort. However, AVs motion is expected to provoke motion sickness (MS) especially when users take their eyes off the road. These challenges need to be overcome before AVs become part of our daily life. Volkswagen Group Innovation and Delft University of Technology are inviting fellows from academia and industry to participate in this workshop. The event is in parallel and in close proximity to the Tomorrow Mobility World Congress (#TMWC) (https://lnkd.in/dz7qbfAH). The workshop aims to align research and development on motion comfort in automated driving focusing on: • Experimental evaluation and detection of perceived comfort, including motion sickness, • Theories and models predicting comfort, • Mitigation strategies to enhance comfort and user acceptance in AVs. This event is supported by Hi-Drive and EIT Urban Mobility. Chairs: Hanna Körber, Chrysovalanto Messiou, Adrian Brietzke and Georgios Papaioannou ----------------------------------- ℹ Submission Colleagues are invited to register for online/in-person participations and inform about the intention to physically present through the registration form. Participants interested in presenting must send an abstract before the 06 September 2024. Abstracts should be a maximum of 150 words and should be sent to the motioncomfortautomateddriving@gmail.com. The chairs will then reach out by the September 22nd regarding more details. The workshop will consist of presentations, poster sessions and discussion rounds. Proceedings will not be published, but the organizers are planning to set up a special issue in a journal for collective publications around motion comfort. This will depend on the presenters’ stated interest. Presentations can only be in person, but the workshop can also be followed online through a link provided after the registration. #MotionComfort #AutomatedVehicles #FutureMobility #AVSafety #Innovation #Research
