This week leaders from the cooperative sector, MEPs, and other policymakers met at the European Parliament to discuss priorities for a sustainable, inclusive, and competitive Europe for the 2024-2029 term. The event was hosted by MEP Irene Tinagli (Socialists and Democrats Group in the European Parliament) and co-organised by CECOP and Cooperatives Europe, with the support of REScoop.eu, Euro Coop, COPA COGECA, European Association of Co-operative Banks. Participants covered pressing topics such as: ✅ Implementation of the Social Economy Action Plan ✅ Renewing the Social Economy Intergroup ✅ EU legal frameworks Cooperative leaders shared insights from key sectors, including Agri-food, Forestry, Retail, Banking, and Renewable Energy. They were joined by MEPs Herbert Dorfmann, Stefano Bonnacini, Maravillas Abadía Jover. 🤝 A Milestone Day for Cooperatives at the European Parliament Cooperative representatives, policymakers, and stakeholders gathered at the European Parliament for a powerful discussion on the priorities of Europe’s #cooperativesector for the 2024-2029 EU term. With a spotlight on how the cooperative model can address Europe’s biggest socio-economic challenges, the event centred on key themes: sustainability, competitiveness, and innovation. Representing cooperative banks in the first panel, our Director for Prudential Affairs, Marco Mancino, joined an insightful discussion with: 🔹 MEP Herbert Dorfmann 🔹 MEP Stefano Bonaccini 🔹 Elli Tsiforou, Secretary General of COPA COGECA 🔹 Todor Ivanov, Secretary General of Euro Coop A clear common thread emerged: deep-rooted in history, the cooperative model is here to stay.
