🎉 As a project partner we are proud to see that BITS has won the #REGIOSTARS Award in the "A Connected Europe" category! We’re thrilled to see smart cycling and the BITS project honoured with this prestigious recognition for outstanding EU-funded initiatives. 🚲 BITS, Bicycles and Intelligent Transport Systems, was the first project in Europe to demonstrate the variety of possibilities created by smart cycling applications through 30+ innovative pilot schemes increasing cycling safety, speed, comfort and ease of use for citizens in the North Sea Region. 🏆 This award is the confirmation for us that ITS can make cycling safer and more enjoyable. And it emphasises the importance to continue working in this direction through the MegaBITS_EU project and the BITS Directory. 🙌 Thank you for everyone who cast their vote for BITS and to the jury for selecting this project among the other strong contenders. #CIE #CyclingIndustriesEurope #BITS #InterregNorthSea #MegaBITS #SmartMobility #EURegionsWeek #Interreg #Cycling

Last week we joined Cycling Industries Europe for their Members Day & Industry Summit 🇧🇪 The CIE brought together industry from the likes of Decathlon and TIER Mobility, and policy makers like Georges Gilkinet, Deputy Prime Miniser and Minister of Mobility of Belgium, to discuss the importance of cycling in creating jobs, healthy, business growth and helping to save the planet 🌍 Each session provided members with tips and recommendations as to how to have their voices and views heard - with the goal of helping change. There was so much to take away and think about, but as always, collaboration is key to ensure cycling continues to have a positive impact on our people, our health and planet. We got a morning run in too, and obviously a few Belgium chocolates 🍫

🚴♀️ During last week’s CIE 2024 Summit, Transport & Mobility Leuven’s report on The Cycling Economy in Belgium revealed some powerful insights into how cycling drives economic growth and job creation. 📊 As Rosanne Vanpée shared: "We calculated the additional net value and employment generated for 1,000 additional bicycles, and these are the results": • Each 1,000 additional shared bikes generates €2.9 million in net added value per year and 29 full-time jobs. • Every 1,000 additional leased bikes generates €2.8 million in net added value per year and creates 27 full-time jobs. • Each 1,000 additional cargo bikes used in bicycle logistics generates €8.9 million in net added value and approximately 1,000 full-time jobs. 🥇This data highlights the immense potential cycling has for economic growth. Let’s continue working together to unlock these opportunities across Europe! 👉 Read more on the study here: https://lnkd.in/eKSm4psB 👉 Join CIE and become part of frontrunning companies forming a united voice for the cycling sector and driving the sector forward: https://lnkd.in/dvJidYp #CyclingIndustriesEurope #CIE2024Summit #SustainableMobility #UrbanMobility #GreenTransition
