About us

Diabatix is a Belgian engineering software company that specializes in thermal analysis and design. Created on the forefront of the newest developments in topology optimization, generative design and machine learning, Diabatix has developed a technology that can generate an optimized thermal design from scratch without any human interaction during the design process. Over the years, Diabatix has become one of the key players in the field of generative design. Counting numerous high-tech multinationals among its clients in different industries and spread over three continents, Diabatix contributes to the development of a new generation of products. From the start, Diabatix's focus is on supporting companies thermal engineering challenges. While initially the company operated as consultancy firm, the developments of the proprietary generative design technology allowed to make the switch to providing technology enabled services instead. Fast forward to 2021, after repeated customer requests for direct access to the software, Diabatix launched ColdStream and transformed into a Software-as-a-Service company. The company is managed by founder and CEO dr. Lieven Vervecken, Chief of Product dr. Roxane van Mellaert and Head of R&D Ine Vandebeek. Over the years, the team has grown to more than 20 highly skilled professionals of 8 different nationalities. Visit www.diabatix.com to learn more about our company.

🌍 At Diabatix, we believe that shaping the future of thermal management goes beyond innovation—it’s about investing in the next generation of engineers. Today, Dr. Paul Lacko, one of our R&D engineers, delivered an online seminar to a class at Delft University of Technology on the design of our groundbreaking copper heat sink. We are proud to support the education and growth of future engineers who will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in thermal engineering! #Engineering #Education #ThermalManagement #GenerativeDesign #AI #Innovation #Diabatix

EV Battery Cooling Plates Designed by #AI? 🚗🔋 Thermal management of battery packs is a crucial element in the EV battery development process. Reflecting on my Jeep conversion project, I remember how challenging it was to design the cooling plates and the entire battery pack. Creating a thermal plate—particularly using the standard liquid cooling systems—is complex, time-consuming, and requires countless iterations to optimize performance and efficiency. That’s why I was amazed by my conversation with Lieven Vervecken in Episode 5 of our AI in E-Mobility podcast. He shared how AI-powered software like Coldstream from Diabatix is transforming thermal management system design in EVs. Link to podcast in comments. So, how does an AI-powered thermal management system actually work alongside human engineers? ➡️RAPID Simulations: AI can run thousands of simulations in a fraction of the time it would take human engineers. It generates cooling plate designs that optimize factors like fluid flow, thermal resistance, and materials—all in record time. ➡️Intentional HUMAN Interaction: AI doesn’t work alone. Human engineers remain an essential part of the process, guiding the system, making critical decisions, and reviewing the results. AI accelerates the trial-and-error phase, allowing engineers to focus on refining and improving solutions. ➡️AI Designs are Clearly Identifiable: According to Lieven, AI designs stand out. He shared that, "AI is like a computer, a software that basically makes decisions like a human would do—sometimes faster, sometimes better—ideally both at the same time." But what’s really exciting is that, "a few years ago, we clearly crossed a line where the designs AI generates are distinctly more complex and advanced than traditional human-engineered designs." You can actually see the difference between AI-generated and human-engineered designs! What are your thoughts? Could AI make a difference in your design processes? I’d love to hear your experiences or any AI-powered solutions you’re exploring in your field! #AI #EVBatteries #ThermalManagement #BatteryCooling #EngineeringInnovation #Sustainability

Optimizing the heat dissipation of an LED light might sound straightforward, but getting it wrong can considerably reduce the lifespan of the LED. In a normal engineering cycle, engineers create and test their designs manually until an acceptable solution is found—a process that can take weeks, or even months to perfect. With ColdStream, you can achieve it with only a few minutes of engineering time. Using CFD simulations and generative design, ColdStream can analyze airflow (even with slip wall conditions) and reduce temperature build-up across the LED fixture by generating an efficient design. The result? Improved cooling performance that increases both the longevity and efficiency of the LED system. #CFD #GenerativeDesign #ThermalManagement #LED #ColdStream #Innovation #Engineering
