A ladder for trimming the hedge, a paella pan for parties, or a sleeping mat for a camping trip — about 80% of the things we own get used less than once a month. So why buy when you can rent or borrow from your neighbors? How can we encourage more sharing of these kinds of products? That’s the question Circular Flanders asked students in the Ecodesign Challenge 2024.   Last week, our ecodesigner Marie had the pleasure of judging the challenge at Bar Bricolage in Ghent, inspiring and motivating the next generation.   Next month, Tim will join the jury of the Ecodesign Awards. Together with Flanders DC, VITO, Knack Weekend, Design Museum Gent, OVAM, and Circular Flanders, he'll help select the best projects and theses with a focus on circular, sustainable, or ecological design.

With the Dynamx control valves Belparts wanted to focus on 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. They asked our help in optimising their entire system for 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀𝗲. In doing so, our designers and engineers used fewer components that work well with standard parts, which 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁 significantly.   To enhance the efficiency of an intervention even more, our digital design team created an 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽 that 𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁.
