About us

The eCAN Joint Action aims to provide a framework of recommendations for the integration of telemedicine and remote monitoring in health care systems. The objective is to reduce cancer care inequalities across the European Union, particularly for cross-border emergencies and health crises, such as COVID-19. eCAN JA (Grant Agreement nº 101075326) has received funding from the European Union.     Being diagnosed with cancer usually implies changes in people’s lifestyle, but it does not have to keep them from their goals, aspirations and hobbies 🏅. And today we bring you an example of this! ➡ Pedro Pablo Lucas took part in our Advanced Cancer pilot project by participating in remote psychological consultations 📱 from Cantabria, Spain. Pedro loves water activities like surfing and, thanks to telemedicine, he has been able to keep catching waves 🌊 without missing out on consultations with his psychologist.     What happens when you bring together healthcare professionals 👩⚕️ and patients 🙍♂️ to understand how to develop digital health tools? Our colleague Farmaki Anastasia shed some light on this topic at the 34th Medical Informatics Europe Conference, organised by EFMI-European Federation for Medical Informatics. The aim of her presentation was to share the results of the focus group discussions conducted in December 2023, focusing on gaining a comprehensive understanding of patients and professionals' perspectives on eHealth services and the technologies developed by eCAN.     Understanding the current digital health scenario is not an easy task, but we'll try to help you with our eCAN dashboard on eHealth in cancer care in Europe 🔎 🗺 We use different indicators to show the state of play of digital health in Europe.
