  • 📈EU-China trade tensions rise as the EU protects its electric vehicle industry and hydrogen sector.👇 🔋On October 4, the European Commission announced definitive tariffs on Chinese battery electric vehicles (EVs). This decision comes shortly after the Commission limited Chinese firms’ access to the upcoming second auction of the European Hydrogen Bank. The tariffs are a response to an 🔎 investigation from the Commission revealing that China’s electric vehicles have benefitted from unfair subsidies, endangering the EU’s competitiveness. 🗳️While only ten member states voted to implement the tariffs, the European Commission has chosen to move forward with the measures, set to be in place for five years, with the possibility of extensions. 📰For a deeper dive into the EU's recent strategies to protect its electric vehicle and hydrogen sectors, check out EERA’s top story here 👉 https://lnkd.in/efrBvyBb
