🌍 🇪🇺 We are thrilled to share that the EFDPO is part of the process of drawing up of the first General-Purpose AI Code of Practice at the AI Office. The Code of Practice will detail the AI Act rules for providers of general-purpose AI models and general-purpose AI models with systemic risks. These rules will apply 12 months after the entry into force of the AI Act. Providers should be able to rely on the Code of Practice to demonstrate compliance. Under the AI Act the Code of Practice shall be ready at the latest by 2 May 2025. The European Commission may even decide to approve the Code of Practice and give it a general validity within the European Union by means of an implementing act. The process involves 4 specific working groups: ⚪ Transparency and copyright-related rules, 🔵 Risk identification and assessment measures for systemic risks, 🔴 Risk mitigation measures for systemic risks, 🟣 Internal risk management and governance for general-purpose AI model providers. 📌 For this purpose our EFDPO team grouped experts in the field of AI, mainly: 🇸🇰 Pavol Szabo as our main point of contact and representative for Transparency and copyright-related rules, 🇨🇿 Jana Pattynova representative for Internal risk management and governance for general-purpose AI model providers, 🇬🇷 Spiros Tassis representative for Risk identification and assessment measures for systemic risks, and 🇨🇿 Jiri Balek representative for Risk mitigation measures for systemic risks. The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has adopted a statement emphasizing the vital role of Data Protection Authorities (DPAs) in the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) framework. With their expertise in safeguarding personal data, DPAs are recommended to serve as Market Surveillance Authorities (MSAs) for high-risk AI systems, ensuring robust coordination and legal certainty. This move is set to bolster the enforcement of AI and data protection laws across the EU.
